The reason that the rockets hit you when u shoot them is because when u actually fire them, they leave the pods then they linger for a split second right next to you while they detach their shells to actually boost to the target area. So basically when u shoot them, stay in that spot or at least in the open for a little longer like a second or two

  28. Brad, here’s a few tips from a Valkyrie main.
    1: the rockets will stun players momentarily when hitting them and will also deal 25 damage. If your target is hit by more then one rocket, they will take 1 extra point of damage per rocket that hits them after the first 25 dmg dealing rocket. Every rocket that hits your target will increase the stun duration slightly.
    2: remember to fly. You can easily escape many dangerous situations or gain an advantage over the enemy team simply by flying above or away from them. Valkyries flight works very well in situations where the enemies have lost sight of you and you need to hide to heal up. For example, the pipelines above the vault tunnels on worlds edge. I’ve escaped many near death situations this way.
    3: Try your hardest to not be hit by a revenant silence, especially off drop when you have no weapons. Revenant can and will disable your flight and your rockets, removing all of your mobility and extra damage.
    4: When firing the missiles, you become a very large target, due to the missile flare and the fact that you have to be in the open to launch them. If you tap Q(or your respective tactical key bind) you must stay in the open long enough for each missile to leave the racks. If you quickly hide behind cover about a second after you tap the button to launch them, they will fly into your cover and damage+stun you. You must wait until every missile has launched before running back to cover.

    5: you can easily confuse enemies by jumping around cover via quick bursts from your Jetpack. When reactivating the jetpack, you gain a boost of speed at the cost of fuel. This is good for dodging bullets. A very useful way to use this is to strafe while boost flying away. Don’t spam it too often, or you’ll run out of fuel and won’t be able to escape those dangerous situations.
    6: Keep an eye on your fuel. I see so many streamers play Valkyrie and they pay no attention whatsoever to her fuel limit, and then complain when they die because “their jetpack wouldn’t activate”.
