Valorant Teams Screwed by Riot for LCQ

The VCT Last Chance Qualifier for NA is under fire again after the Australia teams are all forced to withdraw after not being cleared to enter the country.

The LCQ for Valorant Champions was already being ripped for having single elimination brackets by orgs like 100 Thieves and multiple Valorant pros, but now an entire country has withdrawn from the event due to what the Australian teams call “preventable issues” that won’t allow them to make the LCQ.

The Chiefs and Order, the two Australian teams qualified for the NA LCQ, have both quit the event after being unable to get past travel restrictions in time, something they apparently blame on Riot, calling it a preventable scenario. They also apparently did not have great communication with Riot leading up to the LCQ, saying that only now did they have an open dialogue with Valorant and Riot after having to withdraw from the LCQ.

So the Australian Valorant teams get screwed out of attending the biggest VCT event of the year so far, and their only chance to play on LAN, all because Riot apparently did not take travel restrictions into consideration for their teams. Riot is now scrambling to change their brackets for the VCT LCQ just days before the event, and hopefully next year will learn from their mistakes.

  1. This is the same scenario in the Indian region where all the Chinese teams slot were given to rest of the region and also lets not forget about India being the only region not yet having a wild rift server!! Really pisses me off

  2. Boy aussies are just being rimmed in the world right now. Beat in the streets and grounded to their houses and not allowed to travel also kicked out of events. Sucks to have to live on that big as$ island out there

  3. If I was leading any of these respective teams I would boycott the event. If the teams pull together on that then might get change. It isnt fair to everyone. Pretty much australia is barred from events because of where they live because of travel. How messed up fr

  4. I want to know if Riot was involved with this or if it was other factors. Because most of the complaints Riot got was the way the Oceanic teams were treated. Now what if this made Riot so petty that they basically removed the teams from being able to attend at all due to those complaints. None of the this is actually made clear in this video. For Riot's sake I hope it's more about Covid and how the teams have to be handled that's at fault here.

  5. I don’t think people realize how hard it is to get back into Australia they can’t just book a flight they need to be on a waitlist to book a room to come back and quarantine in there designated camps if it’s anything like New Zealand they have 4 times a year people can fly back and it’s done in random so people can get stuck outside there country for a very long time people need to blame Australia’s not riot

  6. Imagine living in a country that is so scared of a c disease that it built c camps for people that don't follow quarantine. Meanwhile I think Norway lifted all c restrictions and the world has not ended.

  7. its just baffling seeing how riot can mess up even though they have LoL in their portfolio (lol may have its own issues that im not aware of, but they should have atleast some experience dealing with this stuff)

  8. Ok so how is Riot screwing the teams?
WTF? These are the times we're living: pandemic killing people, Covid regulations, Zlaner amd Destroy cheating their but off and profiteering from peoples donations…..I mean….it's what we are all living at the moment.
Not the best times but still what is Riot have to do with all of this?

  9. If Riots the T.O. They should have looked at how players and company members would have had to be quarantined before going further, I believe it's up to 30 days and all expenses have to be paid out of their own pockets. The idea that nobody looked into this before now is astounding. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think these standards are still in place.

  10. The Aussie teams have had to win their First Strike, Oceania Tours and different qualifiers within LPL in order to compete in this and then can't. It just sucks that OCE is so looked over and abandoned in the esports scene. They only ever have competed in Contender leagues and even in main tournaments, their prize pools are so low. Just guttering for the region

  11. I remember the season before Covid happened the oce rocket league teams came to lan as underdogs and ended up gaining a lot of na and eu fans, they really proved they had what it took, they didn’t win but they took out some top tier American and European teams getting respect from the entire rocket league community.
