I feel like there are two parts to this book. The first is a history of Missile Command and the second is Tony’s history with the game up to when he broke the world record. This second part I found much more interesting as I’ve read the story of Missile Command in other places. Tony does add a bit on to it which I didn’t know about.
He talks about the Atari factory in Ireland and it’s history through the 80s and 90s. This was very interesting because I hadn’t read about it, and because Tony does give a lot of information about it. Especially how the factory got started and how it changed ownership over the years.
His chase for the world record though is much more interesting! Especially when he wins it and the previous record holder Roy Shildt. This was my favorite part as Shildt throws a multiyear temper tantrum over losing the record, but never seems to try and break Tony’s record.

Thank you for watching! Did you ever get the high score on an arcade game?
I’m no one special. I got a few high scores at my local arcade when I was a kid that were wiped out when the machines were turned off at the end of the day. 😉
Thanks for the review Paul – glad you enjoyed the book! Just one correction, it's "Shildt" not "Shlit" 🙂
