Viking Hut Building Simulator 2021 – Let's Play Valheim [Early Access] – Part 1

A battle-slain warrior, the Valkyries have ferried your soul to Valheim, the tenth Norse world. Besieged by creatures of chaos and ancient enemies of the gods, you are the newest custodian of the primordial purgatory, tasked with slaying Odin’s ancient rivals and bringing order to Valheim.

Your trials begin at the disarmingly peaceful centre of Valheim, but the gods reward the brave and glory awaits. Venture forth through imposing forests and snow-capped mountains, explore and harvest more valuable materials to craft deadlier weapons, sturdier armor, viking strongholds and outposts. Build a mighty longship and sail the great oceans in search of exotic lands … but be wary of sailing too far…

  1. I kind of want to see if it's possible to just punch trees until your unarmed skill improves enough to punch them down. And then just keep punching, until you can punch all the bosses.

  2. I have an idea on how a deck building survival sandbox would work, you would basically have to collect various resources (as you do with survival games) to build different structures or collect better materials. The gameplay itself I was thinking would be similar to other survival games, where you actually move a character around and collect resources, build stuff, etc. But upon initiating combat is where the deck building comes into play. As you build up your base and unlock new technologies and structures you get various different cards that do different things, and even have one time use cards for food items and potions. Like for example, the cost to use a card could be stamina, and building a bed would place a "bed" card in your deck. Playing the bed card gives +1 stamina every turn. That was a basic example, but you get the idea. You start off with some very basic cards and as your character gains new equipment, cooks food, and builds various buildings they unlock new cards to use in combat. I feel like it would be a very interesting take on survival games and would make them more fun because in most survival games combat is just monotonous hacking and slashing, but in a deck building game the key component to winning is skill. I feel like if someone could develop a game like this in a good way it would revolutionize the sandbox survival genre and maybe even the deck building genre too.

  3. I feel like "dropped a tree on yourself" is this game's "got blown up by a creeper"–it's a rite of passage that's gotta happen at least once, and occasionally pops up again to keep you humble.
