Well, since I left my thoughts on Double Kill V2, I might as well do one here.
I like the song. I think it's on the same level as the one we got in V4 and it's not that I don't like rock music, if anything it's my favourite genre of music. It's just that, like with Double Kill V2, it feels like there isn't enough punch at some parts. Also, something that really gets on my nerves when listening to songs is when I can hear the voices "clipping". I don't know how to explain it, but there's a small quick sound that plays right before the actual sound plays. It's most prevalent in the more quiet sections and ngl, that puts me off.
Something that would've definitely helped the song would've been a key change. Where in the song, I don't know, but I'd put it after the hardest section to surprise those listening. The build-up's instrumental doesn't really change a lot, which was something I never liked in all versions of Defeat. A better to do it might've been to accentuate the beat in the second half by having a rise and fall to the beats. When it reaches the climax, a crazy dubstep beat (maybe take some inspiration from River's remix of First Instance) would've given the """finale""" of the song a great power.
Speaking of the instrumental, it's also lacking. Like, more could be added. I know that you shouldn't have too many things going on in a song at the same time, but the song feels a bit empty. When the drop for the actual song to begin plays, it feels like it's just going into another section when it should strike as hard as possible for that drop. Maybe I'm missing something or this is a style of music I don't know about, but I like to feel like my ears are full, especially after a drop. That's my biggest criticism for this song and it was the same in Double Kill as well.
There just isn't a lot I can say about this song. It's a good song, I like it, but there's a million other songs I would choose to listen to over this one. I'm sorry if I've offended anyone, but it's what I think and your thoughts aren't mine. So, uh, yeah that's it basically.
