Warhammer 40,000 Battle Sister Review (Quest)

Welcome to the grim darkness of the far future! Experience the war-torn universe of Warhammer 40,000 for the first time in VR. As an unstoppable Battle Sister you will wield authentic, super-powerful weapons and abilities, while battling against the hideous forces of Chaos who threaten all humanity. This is all very epic stuff, and truthfully beyond a passing interest in the world in its lore I have little to no fan bias going in…..so stick with me while I tear it apart and see what all the fuss is about.

  1. Nicely done as always. I appreciate all of the effort you put into your reviews and I hope you can keep them coming. I was hoping this one was going to be special, but it looks like it's a "wait for a sale" kind of game. That's a shame.

  2. I rarely get the chance to try some VR gaming in my daughter's pc, so I'm left with just PS4 VR and Quest 2. This indeed feels much like SW Galaxy's Edge in both graphics and reasonably short content. The Quest is much like Nintendo Wii or Switch, old graphics but pushing forward new ways to play – it just needs something worthwhile to play, because so far it's all mostly shallow. But graphics may not be nextgen AAA, but still look damn impressive and more to the point, better than 90% of what's available on psvr. That's impressive to me…

  3. PCVR is dead, VR chips will render PCVR useless in less than 2 years. Go back to being chained to your dumb expensive PC. PS : I have a 2080ti with PC VR and I sold everything to go to Quest 2 because the experience is simply better. Graphics are not why I play VR.

  4. I like the atmosphere of this game, but the combat itself is just kind of clunky. The side loaded original Half Life (and Opposing Force), despite their age, actually have a better feel with guns and combat. Even as VR experiences they are superior, despite never being intended for VR. I wonder if gearing things specifically for VR (like the terrible rosary motions used to slow down time etc) just makes things worse. I have a feeling once you totally master reloading and gestures, this game will actually be better during a second play through. Which is why maybe, longterm, the multiplayer portion will be pretty good. I think the developer's previous game, Drop Dead, was actually better in a lot of ways. The Gear VR/Go version specifically.

  5. Put another couple of hours into this – summery – Meh, it's ok – but would I play this if it was a regular game, and does the VR aspects compensate for what it lacks? In short, no. However, it made me get back into Space Hulk deathwing – which is what this game should * have been – compare the two to see how weak this game is in *every aspect and to see where FB are taking us – if we except this level of product. Sadly, I find myself going back more and more to flat gaming – purely because the games themselves are actually worth playing – and popping on VR to play the few games in my library that are decent and hold up to what is available outside VR. As a VR enthusiast, this is real sad to say – but I fear it is where we find ourselves now.

  6. Why isn't it on Steam? It's like Asgard's Wrath I have been waiting for it to be released on Steam since launch it's really annoying, I don't want 36000 different digital platforms on my computer it's like they are working very hard for VR not to be successfull.
