Wasteland 3 Review: Baldur’s Gate Meets X-Com

Wasteland 3 Review: Baldur’s Gate Meets X-Com. In this Wasteland 3 Review, we will be discussing the new RPG title developed by InXile Entertainment and published by Deep Silver. Taking a similar approach as the first Fallout Series, the game exploration mechanics are very similar to Baldur’s Gate 2, while the combat resembles the X-COM series. Wasteland 3 focuses around RPG elements, providing the player with a wide variety of options when deciding how to handle each and every situation they encounter. Each action the player takes may have a deep impact on both the history and the world, making each playthrough unique.

Wasteland 3 is set in the post-apocalyptic USA that now freezes under a nuclear winter. As a newcomer to the series (I know, the horror!), the game does a very good job of introducing you to the world, and to the Rangers, the faction that you will be working with throughout the game.

  1. It looks really good but the combat just doesn’t look like it compares well against X-Com or Divinity Original Sin.

Larian ruined all other tactical games for me. They set the bar too high

  2. This game is excellent. I missed out on the other Wasteland games. Always saw them but never got around to trying. But even from just watching videos, I can see this is a big upgrade to the previous game, in general. It's got some great writing and I there is a lot of interesting NPCs. Decen't comedy as well. The Scottish dude had me rolling.

  3. I wonder, if Wasteland 3 is actually an RPG similar to Fallouts. Wasteland2, while a good game, was quite poor in that regard- as you were mostly 'on rails'. You could choose what to say, but that did not affect the end result much, which is similar to Dragon Age, not Fallout 1-2. It was there only like a soap drama with several ways to achieve the same result- and not a true RPG what would let you choose your own result. Also, Wasteland 2 had a lot of what I call 'magic', which does not fit very well in a reality based world: guns that scale 10x in damage for no reason, head traumas/broken bones that heal in 5 minutes, magic tokens that increase how much water you can carry, etc.

  4. its worth mentioning InXile made a point of not gouging people of their money with a bunch of garbage DLC or crappy gun skins. They actually trolled you in the main menu on Wasteland 2 with non functioning DLC links. Lets hope that continues with their new ownership

  5. I played wasteland 2 on integrated graphics (uhd 620 – i5 10th gen)
Will this game run on integrated graphics at all ?
    .
(don't tell me to use can I run it website, it tells you integrated graphics can run no game at all which is BS)

  6. Bought Wasteland 3 on GoG and so far the game is fucking perfection, with very little bugs and performance issues. I think the framerate may have dropped during one combat encounter, but it wasn't too bad that I had to stop playing. The desktop icon is missing an image. xD Some of the reviews are absolute bonkers! Comparing Wasteland 3's release with Fallout 76's crappy release, and some idiot giving the game one star just because the coop didn't work properly. Lmfao!
Edit: spoke too soon. They fixed the desktop icon. hahaha

  7. Is the entire game in snow??? A bit boring after a while and the developers took the easy way instead of using different areas with different settings. hm… I prefer to play the predecessor, which I like much better and I think it looks more interesting than the new "cold" version. I hoped for a bit more from Wasteland 3, I mean in all honesty, it looks like a PS3 game.

  8. I have one more problem with this game and that is recruitment of the companions. Some companions are way to far in the game to be recruited like Pizepi Joren she have nerd stuff skill what u need from the start of the game go with out it and get after u recruited her after aspen lvl around 12-14 is bad because u will miss lot's of the things and option or have 2 characters with this same skill is useless. To bad that this part of the game is not good in general companions are very bad with poor build and they come late in the game.

  9. Heyo! A little tip; try to avoid the Ranger HQ later in the game as much as I can. I find that it crashes the most in this area. Secondly, be careful of Robo scorpions. Not because how tanky they are but in my experience the sound they make when moving distorts everything else.

  10. Bro…..Unity is what? Reaching the end of its lifespan?

Love your content but that's just not correct. I've been using unity for about 5 years and you couldn't be more wrong. I've watched it evolve into a great engine. What you're saying here is like blaming a hammer because you can't hit the nail. The issue lies with the developer, not the engine.
