Welcome to Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World

We’re pleased to announce a brand new trailer with some new insights of Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World. Immerse yourself in a fully remastered Wonder Boy adventure that stays true to its roots as the latest part of the legendary and successful series, that dates back to 1986.

While the story remains true to the original game, it’s a full remake of Monster World IV, with cell-shaded 3D graphics and 2D gameplay that stays close to the beloved original gameplay as well as enhanced visuals and refined play content. Especially in the event scenes the performance is deepened and the world view is reproduced vividly and colorful. Plus for the first time in the series, it comes with a character voice – by the popular and talented Japanese voice actress Ai Fairouz.

The fully remastered version of Wonder Boy IV is led by none other than it’s creator, Ryuichi Nishizawa. Additionally, he is supported by Shinichi Sakamoto for new and improved music and sound effects, Maki Ōzora for character design and Takanori Kurihara as creative manager to create a worthy remake and new entry to the iconic series.

  1. I'm curious about gameplay changes now – I think the game would stand to gain from more non-linearity, more in-depth equipment mechanics, a map system, the blocking style used in the other MW games and some other minor stuff. So will there be any or is it more of a remaster?
Graphically it looks better and I like the music in this clip too.

  2. That is an appealing look this game has! I love this franchise dearly but I don't have a Playstation or a Switch. Question: Is there any chance of Wonder Boy – Asha in Monster World appearing on any of the online PC stores(like Steam, GOG & Epic Game Store)?

  3. So this is NOT going to be a Strictly Limited Games exclusive anymore? Is there going to be a retail edition available on Amazon and other retailers, including in the US? I'm definitely getting a physical edition but I was waiting for a US version before getting the EU one from SLG.

  4. I always liked the 3D models they have here even on the og trailer. Glad they polished up the animations from the first trailer, it’s not perfect or anything but good. Crossing fingers this leads to a fully 3D wonder boy game :p

  5. Any details on the performance differences between the switch and ps4 version? Will the switch be full 1080p at 60 fps or will that be only possible for the ps4 version? I am sitting here wanting to preorder the physical version and would rather own it on switch, but if the ps4 version performs better than the switch version that will sway my decision. Can the developers possibly give some information out regarding this?

  8. All I know is they FINALLY put the butt wiggle in! This game wouldn't be the same without the signature butt wiggle when she opens chests. I was hoping they'd get that right and they did!

  9. I just hope they did away with the permanently missable content thing by making it so that you can revisit levels. I've never big on that sort of thing period.
