#DwarfFortress #Simulator #LetsPlay

In one of my forts the first dwarf to die was killed by an infected toe or something, I wasn't sure. He got his own room in the centre of the catacombs, with a detailed pillar of him building a barrel. He rests in an electrum sarcophagus. A hero.
7:30 You assumed correctly. In quotation marks is the translation of the dwarven name. But the first name of a dwarf never gets translated. "Ber" means "Earth", if you wondered. The dwarf fortress wiki knows all secrets.
Edit: The butchers workshop always gets smelly pretty fast. There are many options to deal with it, tho. I like to have a connection to to the surface directly above it. Have FUN! 🙂
1. Martyrmirror is the translation of the dwarvish on the left. The first names are also dwarvish, but it doesn't get translated and I'm not sure what Ber means.
2. Necromancers in your fort, menacing as they sound, are lovely dwarves, and they just happen to know the secrets of life and death. Sometimes they can be useful in a goblin siege, but I wouldn't put one in the military because I don't really want to lose them.
awesome to see more DF 🙂 , i see the name questions have been dealt with so thought I might just give a few pointers. as with last video these are mainly to help with quality of life rather than telling you how to play/how i play 🙂
first you didnt like all the random stone everywhere, you can hide the stone by pressing d, b, h to hide the stone (dwarves will still see and use it but you wont) and the same with capital H to unhide it. I usually don't as if you do it after you have put furniture in it hides that as well but at this stage you can probably do it to most of the fotress without concern. (alternatively if you want your dwarves to spend the rest of their lives hauling you can set up a dump zone and select the stone to dump it all (not really recommended with so few dwarves)
secondly having lots of skeletons around is bad as it makes your dwarves sad as you found out (with potentially more spooky problems arising) I usually will have a few coffins built and placed then press q and set them for burial Y (now whenever their is a dwarf body they will put it in a spare coffin)
third, yeah butchers get smelly, i usually build them in a little room with a door so the smell doesn't spread too much, butcher few animals at a time so the body parts can get stored in either a food stockpile or the refuse before they start rotting (if you haven't set any animals to be butchered its probably your hunter working overtime, if it keeps being a problem you can try turning off hunting for a while or waiting for him to run out of bolts.
third , to see what is lying around inside a workshop press t and it will show you (also anything with a blue TSK, means that a dwarf is on their way to do something with that item)
really happy to see your still having a go at dwarf fortress, it is confusing at first but so rewarding 🙂 best of luck and looking forward to future episodes
