power creep is real
Truth bomb: the champion design team has been f#@%ing the balance team since 2017.
Completely disagree that feature creep is needed in a long lasting game. Dota 2 has been around for close to as long as LoL but new heroes like Hoodwink don't need ridiculous gimmicky bloated abilities.

A bit after they made braum I forgot whene exactly but like around 5 champ after braum they really started to make champion whit 20 lines of text for 1 ability.

I love how people are complaining about him when they don’t realize that his ult can be blocked by almost everything, towers, creeps, champs etc. I understand that you think he’s broken but the reality of it, he’s really not good because he’s hard to play. But the people who are good at him, yes he’ll be a good but again his ult can be blocked by everything. Other than walls.

I think his kit is ok because he’s really hard to play right. High skill floor, high ceiling.
I think there a sweet spot to hit where the design is Fun and Simple to understand…
And useally the new design are starting to hit the stop where is Hard to understand and yes fun to play but to hard to understand you are loseing ppl over it..
I think the best design are character around Season like 4ish? I don't know like Leona, Nami, Jhin etc. (thing like that where it not OG sion braindead. But it doesn't require the player to take 1 h just to reed the text. and than at less 1 day just to play it in casual or PvE just to start understanding it)
Like leona is a good exemple same whit braume I would say they are quite simple in design but effective.
My biggest critique of Askhan was that reading his kit was reading 10 different champions abilities put together the only original things are they hook and the w passive.
He has the power of Jesus as a passive…..on his freaking w.
Lets count the amount of mechanics that akshan has in his kit thats borrowed from other champions.
Passive: Lucian passive, vayn/gnar W, +shield, +movement speed +attackspeed
Q: sivir Q, reveals enemies, +movement speed.
W: The entire scoundrel bullshit, old khazix ult evolve the one that allowed infinite invis, Warwick w passive towards scoundrels, + mana regen.
E: basically it deals damage like katarina E except he hits multiple times and ziplines in a circle
R: Caitlyn ult, except its split up into a max of 7 shots, can critically hit, applies onhit effects at 50% and applies 100% lifesteal and hits structures.
7 borrowed champion copied abilities. Plus the entire scoundrel shit.
He also gets Jax ultimate
I think League would be fine if the passives still looked like that. Why do I think that? Because that's what got them to this point. Everything doesn't have to be super simple, but making things so powerful that they make old content feel bad is wrong. Going back to like Season 4 or 5 would not make the game instantly become bad.
What i see as kinda problematic is that skillshot casters are gonna be harder and harder to play when everyone gets so much mobility. Can't hit your skillshots and everyone can get ontop of you.
In term casters will recieve more stats and damage to compensate and slowly become statsticks.
Riot games killed this game like 4 years ago. Every champ now is designed for people who have literally no idea how to play the game. They all have either an escape or invise or cc or shields. The game requires very little skill anymore because champs can run at you like apes and out damage you just because they breath air. That's the whole reason the game is dying.
Remember when champions weren't mini-games and they didn't have a wall of text to explain their abilities?

The champion pull is too big right now. And they are digging a grave for the balance team with each new champ.
I personally believe that reworks are a lot more healthy than new champion releases and can be balanced a lot easier.
