What Happened To The FIRST Female Team in League of Legends? | Team Siren

League of Legends esports has now existed for well over a decade. During this time players from all around the world have had opportunities to make complete careers out of becoming professional gamers. However, despite the widespread success, the representation of females in the space has been non-existent. Though, some “teams” have made attempts.
Team Siren was one of these teams.

  1. Back then, when I was still active playing games like league, i used to tell all my online friends that I'm a guy. Idk if it's just me but there are some misogynistic tendencies that happened and I don't want people to say I suck bcs I'm a female but u know, suck bcs I suck (that's just one of the many examples).

  2. They shouldn’t have to apologize for attempting to represent and underrepresented community. Just apologize to your team for being toxic. Pretty sad that people use your gender to attack you for no real good reason. Sure they weren’t pro, but they wanted to have fun. I don’t get the toxicity

  3. let's be honest the reason why women have almost no presence at all in high level pro play of most competitive videogames is simply because gaming culture for most of its history has held a very strong hostility towards female presence amongst its fanbase. You just have to be friends with women who play any competitive game to be able to hear a waterfall of stories about guys being creepy, hostile or just as a baseline dismissive towards them.

  4. They have to be skilled enough from the start then they have to be willing to grind nonstop and put in the work to become great then they have to be willing to live in a gaming house with a bunch of dudes where their whole life is playing one game and they have to be willing to do all of that for way less money and quality of life then being a streamer/social media person/only fans person. Yeah it’s shocking there aren’t more of them lmao.

  5. Whenever I think of pro gamers and tragedy, the first thing to mind is the team named "Gonna Rape Hafu At Regionals" while playing against Hafu when she was only a teen. It's disgusting how women are treated in the gaming community. Shit talking is one thing, but there's a line.

  6. Any professional female is going to get stuck in a lose / lose situation. Either she will not make it due to the competition being heavily dominated by men and then if she does happen to be that good, everyone will focus on her because she is a female and thus will not longer need to play because of the advertisement value she will be.
