What "Permadeath" Means In EFT // Will Escape from Tarkov Be Permadeath?

A couple days ago there was a community cast with Nikita where he explained a few PLANS, CONCEPTS AND IDEAS around what Escape from Tarkov will look like when it’s finished. Persistent effects through what we call death is something that has always been part of the plan and Nikita explained something a lot of people are now calling permadeath that I wanted to touch on.

Although I do sometimes get a hand from BSG and occasionally get to talk to Nikita or other members of the team, I do not work for BSG. I also work entirely off public information and past experiences of working in game dev myself, as well as following this game closely for several years. Unless I state very clearly otherwise, the information you’re about to hear should be taken as speculation. You can either get no information or speculation, that’s all we have to go off of these days unfortunately which is why it’s easier to just say Thursday whenever anyone asks for dates. If you want hard facts and dates you won’t get them, period.

  1. the game will never finish.
we don't even have the content that was talked about years ago.
they implement more and more "New" stuff and dont even care about the things that where talked about years before.
every 6 months we get a small pathetic update to make people to buy the game and crash the servers.

ah i just forgot.. its just a beta

  2. Here’s what I think: they should remove wipes completely or have them way less frequent while also implementing this system into the game. Progression will become way slower because people will be more careful. Plus, gaining max rep and getting kappa is more obtainable this way, especially for people who don’t have a-lot of time to play.

  3. love how they fix this and that… how about fix the ads bug. I shouldn't be profusely shaking while aiming. this is escape from tarkov not daycare. Id imagine any grown adult, even teens can handle holding a 14 pound gun up without an issue. yet multiple "updates" have came out and they still haven't fixed it. THANK GOD THE NEW MAP CAME OUT THOUGH. hopefully they continue to kill this game by pushing out maps not to mention new bosses and guns rather than bug fixes, fed up with these shit devs.

  5. Its quite simple, in a game riddled with hackers and people who won't want to take the game seriously and will exist solely to trap people in irradiated zones for PKs. It would be very unplayable to grind up 46000 raids just to level your magazine skill up; only for you to DC or lag out or be teleported by a hacker or forced in by other played to an irradiated zone causing you to loose your account. There is better ways to enforce PK systems and prevent it from becoming unplayable. Star citizen's PK system is a good example. the scav karma system is a good example. The middle ground they could do is have radiation weaken your body and de-level you and your skills.

  6. Absolutely love this idea! They could easily incorporate a new game plus system into this where the more times you escape successfully you would have meaningful rewards that you could flex on your buddies with.

  7. I’d rather have a very very very expensive fix to the radiation rathe than a “permanent death”. Like we all know curing cancer isn’t cheap. So therapist should charge a Million rubles + if you happen to get too much radiation. Literally not a single person would go into a radiation area with a full kit and a leveled character. It’ll just be lvl 1 people dying just got loot. It’s not practical, just not yet anyways.

  8. Sounds like a good way to kill the game to me. The game is already so time consuming as it is and to just have to deal with stuff lasting even longer and the possibility of starting over doesn't sound fun to me

  9. I do worry that effectively "requiring" account resets will absolutely murder the game. Hell, plenty of people don't even bother to start a wipe if they feel they got in "too late". Imagine finally making decent progress and then needing to flush every single bit of it away, while everyone else is just fine. I feel at that point most "average" players will just drop the game.

  10. I really hope they have both pvp and pve specific raids and tasks in the future. As a very new player I enjoy the big game changing decisions but having other players being able to make such big decisions to my own game doesn't sound fun. Online raids for gearing and getting special found in raid, offline raids for tasks and non found in raid gear. Even limit what can spawn in offline modes that's fine.

  11. The only reason its even gotten this far is because its a private company that doesn't have to abide by the rules a triple A game does. I enjoy the current game so I have faith that Nikita knows what he is doing.

  12. As a new player and a person who just loves fps’s. I hear a lot of people complaining about the game. And idk why it’s like just stop playing then. Yes I believe that the community should lay off and just play the damn game if they ask for feedback cool but all means. But as a person who creates things if it’s my thing I’m gonna do what I want plain and simple. The only thing with the game is the steep learning curve. Everybody just wants to be good right away I hate that. Earn the right to be good button mashing is not skill. Either way great game and I’m sure the full game will be awesome!

  13. I just wanna save loadouts so when I flop my raid for the 9th time in a row I don't need to go through all traders and buy each individual item. (am aware that weapon's have presets, I'm talking bullets, meds, armour etc). Wouldn't even care if it was to just buy my previous loadout again and not have a saved preset

  14. All i can say from a skeptical point of view, is yes they should make the game how they intended it, its a fantastic game and every change has been awesome, however the more difficult you make a game the less people find it enjoyable, the thing about tarkov is it relies souly on other players selling things on the market for other players to make their kits, if you cant ever get your favorite kit i can see alot of people giving up because its hundreds of hours of research just to become half decent at the game, the barrier of entry is already at a tough spot, when i pitch the game to friends i have to adress the difficulty, frustration, and research factors of the game right off the bat, and it ends up turning enthusiastic potential tarkov enjoyers, to skeptics. I fear the term "perma death" alone may end the game's player base before release, during release and potentially even after release.

  15. "As realistic as playable" me @ss xD

This is why i bought tarkov:
"Escape from Tarkov is a hardcore and realistic online first-person action RPG/Simulator with MMO features and a story-driven walkthrough." It is in their main page in the about section. I paid for the EOD account in 2017 because of this statement and this is what i want delivevered.

  16. I'm sure this isn't an original take, but I think over time if you continuously get a certain limb blacked out, eventually it stays blacked out, to the point where amputation is the only option to save the body. By the end you'll have to get used to only using a pistol in your left hand. Worst case scenario you're going to have to grab a wheelchair and some Killa armour to become the Tarkov Killdozer.
