What to expect from Hitman 3
What’s up Hitman fans? We bet you’re hyped Hitman 3, the long awaited final instalment of IO
Interactive’s World of Assasination trilogy, releases on January 20th 2020. But how much do we
actually know about the new game? How different will it be to the previous Hitman instalments?
Well, that’s what we’re going to be breaking down today. We’ve looked through all the information
that’s currently available to tell you about some of the new gameplay features, the brand new
locations, what the game comes with and where the story might be going. Sit back and relax as we go through what you can expect from Hitman 3.
Platforms
Hitman 3 will be released on the Xbox One, PS4, PC, Google Stadia and Nintendo Switch! It will
also be released on the next generation consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X. There will also be a free upgrade to next generation consoles available if you buy Hitman 3 on either the PS4 or the Xbox One. This allows you to get Hitman 3 on the Xbox Series X or PS5 with no additional cost!
Backlog Content
Just like Hitman 2, Hitman 3 will allow you to to play in updated, remastered versions of previous
levels from the series. This means that there will be a huge backlog of locations and levels for you to play in Hitman 3 outside of the main campaign. This will include previous campaigns, bonus missions, escalations, special assignments and all the levels of the Hitman Sniper assassin minigame. That’s a total of 18 locations from just the previous games alone! IO really are building a whole “world of assassination”! If you are a long-time Hitman fan and you already own any of the original levels, you will be able to unlock all of them in Hitman 3 completely free of charge. Not only that, but you will be able to import all of your original original unlocks and level progression as well! This means that you won’t have to replay all of the old missions to build up your mastery like you would have had to with Hitman 2.
Gameplay
Judging by the reviews from game journalists who have accessed the game early and footage of the first level that has been released, we can tell that the gameplay in Hitman 3 will be very similar to the gameplay of Hitman 1 and 2. Once again, levels are designed to be sandboxes, where players are encouraged to explore and experiment as you search for opportunities to kill your targets. As usual, re-playability is a key factor in the level design of the Hitman games, with many fun hidden opportunities and Easter eggs. Your environment will be yours to manipulate and the levels will be filled with a multitude of items which you can use as all kinds of weapons. These sandbox levels are your playground, where you take out your targets however you want.
However, although it seems that very little of the gameplay has changed, there is one new feature
which we do know about; a multi-function camera. IO Interactive stated that they designed the
camera to be a “central tool for professional and playful means”
So far, two levels have been confirmed to feature in Hitman 3. The first level is called “On top of
the World” and will take place in Dubai in the Burj Al-Ghazali, the tallest building in the world.
This level will allow you to climb outside the building, across ledges and pipes, as well as into the
main party, where you can mix with the global elite. We won’t go into too much detail about this
one, as there has been a lot of footage of playthroughs from game journalists released. However,
from what we’ve seen, Dubai looks to be one of the best hitman levels yet! Another level that has been announced will take place in Dartmoor, England.
