  1. What happened to arcades hmm well….games evolved into something more & very very sadly they died out with the closing out of the very early 2000’s but they’re are very very rare places that are still operational with a wall to wall full to the Brim of arcades nickel nickel uses nickels & if still around golf n stuff uses quarters & Camelot (Aka king Arthur’s palace) uses quarters but i remember that power of play arcade place in my mall that used that stupid card thing

  3. Time Out IS the 80's! I loved that place. Those WWE arcade games along with Double Dragon, etc. got a lot of quarters from my family. I still have two unsharpened Time Out pencil that my mom found stashed away when they finally sold our childhood home. Great memories, awesome video here.

  6. Ha ha. My basement is still in infancy stages ! Ideally turning into a vintage toy room that is surrounded by gaming from 1980’s. Chexx hockey machine.pinball , Bumper pool table and some arcades. It’s a slow process. The ms Pac-Man one up is solid and if I didn’t like it I would have sold it along with the turtles game. Because the turtles game has thst unlimited continue bullshit. I wasn’t happy about it. But I guess the new wave of machines in the last year or so are actually not rocking that listless option. I do have a slight interest in the outrun machine

My arcade playing first hatched at a restaurant called talk of the town. While we’d wait for food to come out. Grandparents would feed us quarters and we’d hit up the Pac-Man machine. Which later morphed into hit the ice , turtles and simpsons. Loved it.

    I’d have to go

    Ms Pac-Man
    Hit the ice
    Double dragon
    Outrun

    As my tops

Also in lake George being a tourist spot they had a street walkin arcade that was solid for a long time. Locals knew which time to go in there and have pick of the machines. When I got older and first outgrew the arcades. We’d get all sauced up and do the theme park esque shooting gallery. Which was solid. Huge and actually challenging. Loser buys next six pack.

Couldn’t agree more about dave and busters I spent 50 bucks on cards and kids played 20 mins on lame ass blinking light pop music gambling buttons. All the while sporting a massive headache from the terrible music being blasted from second you walk in. At first I was like ok. It’s music for kids a s younger crowd. But when your own kids and other kids say they don’t like the music and it’s too loud …it was easy pulling the plug on that excursion.

Happy Easter as well new80’s folk.

  7. This video reminds me of a movie I just came across for the first time in the last couple of years called Joysticks from 1983. It is all about the arcade culture of those early years… kind of like Porky's at an arcade if that makes sense. Definitely one of those movies that is so bad that it is actually great. I would highly reccomend anyone of our age watch at least once… lol.
