  1. For me, would the first appearance or Grotesque, or the intro scene of mother's final form in Galerians.
I'd say walking into my cuz's room as he got to the chest buster scene in the original Resi 2, but I technically didn't get to see it because I had to go home. "My chest, it's burning!" Was the only thing I knew about that game til I actually got to play it 8 years later.
I've got a similar Pokemon story though. Had my copy of Ruby that I almost completed, pokedex nearly full as I spent time in Florida that summer with my cousins and traded and trained whenever we got stuck inside due to the weather. Then, I left my GBA on the city bus on the way home from class. I was so mad at myself, as I didn't notice til I walked home, and that was the last bus of the day. Hits a lot harder when you pay for something on your own, only to lose or destroy it on your own.

  2. Went into a laundromat that had a arcade game at 5 years old. Put in my quarters to play the game. Picked a super cute chick. The game starts and this guy ingame punches my cute girl repeatedly. Then grabs her and throws her off the bridge onto spikes below…. turns out I was playing Mortal Kombat.

  3. I will definitely say the damn lady that screams in The Ithryll Duengoun from Dark Souls 3. You're just picking up loot and you get your ears blown off by the horrible scream. Ugh. FromSoftware I hate you so much but love you even more.

  4. I think mine would be Fable 2. Not a conventionally scary game, but one moment caught me completely by surprise that made me almost jump out of my chair.
One of the demon doors you can open takes you to this beautiful pristine winter cottage, like something straight out of a Christmas movie. It’s so warm and inviting, there’s even a glow to the place. But as you step into the door frame, suddenly you get a huge horror stinger as the house INSTANTLY changes into a destroyed, burned-down wreck. The first time I found it, it completely got me and I had a chill for like a solid minute because of it

  5. I played Condemned 2: Bloodshot for like 5 straight hours one night and by the time I was done, I really had to go to the bathroom both ways. I looked down the hallway and it was pitch black and this about 2am. Somehow, I was able to sleep and hold it until morning until there was light outside!

  6. For me, the moment that has really stuck with me is the boss battle with Pigsy near the end of the first Manhunt. A stealth based battle against a naked fat dude wearing a pigs face for a mask, who is feral and needs to be fed by handlers is fucking terrifying to me.

  7. The sewer level in Shadows of the Empire for the N64. The Dianogas already look hideous with their tentacles sticking up out of the disgusting water, but they make this horrible screeching noise when they're close that made me have to stop for a while. The one in the movie made more of a roar, that wasn't so scary. It also doesn't help that the boss is a Dianoga the size of a starship.

  8. If the sheer mentioning of the words, 'Panzerknacker Unleashed' sends shivers down your spine, I am with you. A series of bonus missions that were ever so unsettling for a kid.

  9. I was playing that Walking Dead vr game sometime last year, zombie came at me from my left, scared the absolute crap out of me so naturally I swung for it, I didn't realise how close I was to the wall and ended up breaking my finger quite badly. Not only was it scary but it caused me permanent damage😂

  11. the first time i saw a ghost reaper in subnautica. Like, i've played a lot of horror games and they never did anything for me. Resident evil, outlast, and dozens more and none of them could scare me. My greatest fear though is the deep ocean, so being in absolute blackness in the middle of nowhere and seeing this big ass glowing thing just attack me out of nowhere made me drop the controller and stop playing the game…forever. Ok not really, but i have no idea how to finish the game.

  12. I wouldn't say 'terrifying' per se but 2 that come to mind are my play through of the original Nightmare Creatures on PSX for its ability to really create a horror atmosphere, and Dangerous Hunts on GC .. those aggressive animals that pounce really gave me a scare, especially because you heard them before you saw them and by then you were freaking out and trying not to die. Good times.

  13. Was playing Wind Waker when I was 7 and sailed to Jabu Jabu island. We get there. See its destroyed and they're like welp we gotta leave. Its stormin, there are tornadoes and I dont want to see the kraken and sharks again the music gave me extreme anxiety and fear when I ran into them so. I quit. I never beat it. And now I've been waiting to beat it but I missed my chance since I didnt have a wiiu so. Praying it gets ported.
