Among Us is a multiplayer game, supporting four to ten players. One to three of these players are randomly selected each game to be Impostors, while the rest are Crewmates. The game can take place on one of three maps: a spaceship (The Skeld), a headquarters building (Mira HQ), or a planet base (Polus).] Crewmates are given tasks to complete around the map in the form of minigames, consisting of maintenance work on vital systems, such as electrical rewiring and fueling engines. Impostors are given a fake list of tasks in order to blend in with Crewmates, and they have the ability to sabotage the map’s systems, traverse vents, identify any other Impostors, and kill Crewmates. If a player dies, they become a ghost; ghosts can pass through walls, but can only interact with the world in limited ways and are invisible to everyone except other ghosts. All players, aside from ghosts, have a limited cone of vision, only allowing them to see other players within a certain unblocked distance around them, despite the game’s top-down perspective.
Among us vs fall guys is a very large debate people have often, did among us kill fall guys or did fall guys kill themselves while among us rose?

Among Us was inspired by the real-life party game Mafia (also known as Werewolf in some areas), and was initially intended to be a mobile-only local multiplayer game with a single map. It was released in June 2018 to Android and iOS, under the AppID of “spacemafia”. Shortly after release, Among Us had an average player count of 30 to 50 players simultaneously. Programmer Forest Willard deemed that “it didn’t release super well” which designer Marcus Bromander believed was because studio InnerSloth “[is] really bad at marketing”. The team intended to “[give] up on it several times”, but continued work on it due to a “small but vocal player base”, first adding in online multiplayer, new tasks, customization options, and later on November 16, 2018 it released on Steam. Cross-platform play support was available upon release of the PC version.

On August 8, 2019, InnerSloth announced a second map, Mira HQ. A third map named Polus was added later that year on November 12, 2019. Both maps initially required an additional payment of US$4, however their prices were reduced to $2 on January 6, 2020, and then later made free on June 11, 2020; while the map packs are still available for purchase on all platforms, they no longer provide access to the maps, instead only giving the player the skins that were bundled with the maps.

According to Willard, the team “stuck with [the game] a lot longer than we probably should have from a pure business standpoint”, putting out regular updates to the game as often as once per week. This led to a steady increase in players, “snowball[ing]” the game’s playerbase. Bromander stated their ability to do this was due to them having enough savings, allowing them to keep working on the game even while it was not selling particularly well.

Among us seems like its more or less infamous nowadays. Among us is still cool but definetely has lost quite a bit of traction if I’m being honest. Among us in real life ?!?!?!?!? Among us 3 AM HAPPY MEAL ?!?!?!?!?

  1. i remember when I play among us I see the imposter come out of the ven and they see me too they start to chase me lucky I near Looby so I quickly press the emergency meeting but when I trying to tell them who the imposter are they're name not appear in quick chat,I'm so confused do you know what happened next? 2. Among Us is not a failing game. of course every game has to come to an end but among us is no where near that point. Among us still has way more players than it did before it blew up in 2020. In fact innersloth was in the process of making among us 2 a little bit before its popularity, in attempt to reinvigorate peoples want to play the game. This shows that there was still plenty of players that would at least try among us 2. Just because it doesn't have as many players as it used to, doesn't mean its failing. People are saying similar things about fortnite yet epic games is STILL actively updating it.

  3. Honestly, I found it the most fun playing as a crewmate – maybe it was the routine and being given little jobs to do and keeping watch. I stopped playing when it became impossible to find lobbies.

  4. My biggest problem with public lobby’s before the quick chat feature was that i was on switch and i kept getting voted out because it was taking me too long to type, so…. I would’ve liked the quick chat feature but i was able to play on pc after the quick chat feature

  5. Among us was bound to have a larger lifespan and impact than most of the other indie games that got absurdly popular just due to the fact that it was a multiplayer game that followed a Town of Salem esque formula. I think there's still a lot of fun you can have with Among Us if that's the type of game you like, though it's definitely a gamble with the lobbies.

I feel like the game is actually doing the best it can for itself. More content is pretty much all it can do to keep people around, because every game gets stale after a while.
That being said, I think it's a hard sell to say the game is dead. The internet teaches you that whenever a game falls out of the public eye, it's dead, but there's still a shit ton of people playing the game. Not everything can be like Minecraft.

  6. Well at least fall guys is doing well and among us is a dumb game that you need friends to have fun in. It's not like a game has to build a fanbase, big YouTubers will choose if they would only play one game. Fall Guys has added almost 100 updates and among us added like 3. This just proves that fall guys cares more about their game. Plus fall guys is going free to play, adding cross play parties, and they even have custom games and replay value. Also I don't want to hear some b*tches insulting me for liking fall guys.

  7. Honestly I only played this a few times because someone specifically asked me to and it was fun, I even sorta befriended one person and we were this chaos trio where if one of us was an imposter they'd kill everyone else and then the three of us would just- run around in a circle- And later find out everyone was watching-

Besides that it got repetitive too quickly, it was impossible to find a lobby and the amount of perverts was astounding for a game like this

  8. 7:26 "The game has added incredibly minimal updates with the only notable release since its late 2020 blow up being the addition of the Airship."
Wait a minute. Wasn't there another update that came in November 2021 adding so much new content that made Among Us blow up again and became #1 most trending on PS4 and 5s in December 2021? You can't escape from the truth Sheeprampage. But I do agree, adding voice chat will make it more fun.

  9. “The only major update was the airship map”

Did you even fucking try with this video? There are tons of other blatantly incorrect things said in this video, do better

  10. It's pretty much the fanbase that ruins a game, either good or bad and I feel like whenever a game gets too popular, it pretty much becomes the only thing in people's lives at that moment to the point, where they make it seem like a bad game with those over-the-top sfw or nsfw memes, making people, who actually play the game fairly eventually leave from the overall community of the game. Think about other indie games like those that aren't popular, they always stay in a limited status without any sort of mainstream attention.

  11. micless players, quiet players, trolls, afk, that group of friends you queue in with that have a bias towards their own friends even if you prove yourself good (I saw you do 3 task but my friend says you're bad so ima vote you out anyway type)

  12. I wouldn’t consider secret neighbor to be better than among us… This game is real fun with friends not online. Adding secret neighbor like gameplay to make it work with online would just kill what made the game great in the first place and kill the audience that liked the game in the first place.

Me and my friends still play among us to this day and I love the game for exactly what it is. A local multiplayer social deception game.

  13. when the game blew up I was watching a lot of among us but quickly I realized I actually don't like watching the game all that much unless it's very well edited. like cut out most of the doing tasks and get right to the meetings. but honestly, I don't see how this game can be considered a failure? It was small when it came out, it got popular due to circumstances, and then it fell out of popularity. it might be harder to play with people but it doesn't mean it "failed". just fell out of the spotlight.
meanwhile, you've done a stellar job of acting like this game hasn't continued to thrive on its meme potential. among us is still out there. funniest thing I've ever seen. among us has stuck around kind of like the rickroll, and will continue to exist on a certain level of cultural osmosis. they made crewmate plushies. it's kind of sus not gonna lie.

  14. haven't watched the entire video yet, but I 100% agree with the "quick chat sucks" statement. dunno why they implemented it in the first place, seems like a downgrade in every way possible
edit: so the entire point of removing typing in the chat is because some young kiddies would get offended because someone said "fuck" okayyyyy
