  1. Silksong has been in development since hollow knights release and the trailler released almost 2 years ago so its been in development for over 3-4 years so id say it could be coming soon

  2. Hmmm, interesting point, I can understand why you would say this. I think SIlksong is coming soon-ish because of the Edge Magazine and the PWOT interview coming in Spring. These articles are definitely trying to build hype and if Silksong were to come out next year then TC wouldn't have time to give these many interviews. I agree that they are in the polishing state, but I think that this stage won't be that long. Also you have to consider that when developing HK they had to manage the Kickstarter and develop EVERYTHING for the game. Silksong has a pretty good foundation to stand on and William is a great coder. I think Silksong will come it in the middle of Spring or the beginning of Summer. What do you think?

  3. … What, a video that talks about why Silksong might not coming soon?! is that even possible?

Okay seriously now, about the video: there are good and valid points here all around, but for some of them…i think it's fair to delve a bit deeper, shall we?

    -100 Unique Benches

The Whole "100 unique benches" deal has been probably one of the most discussed topic of why SS will be much bigger than HK…which i don't think it will necessarily be the case, for some reasons:

Leth at some point did "respond" to some of those claims in Discord, some of them likely refered to the 100 benches things, with this message:

"I should warn you all that there are things people are obsessing about from the Edge article that they really shouldn’t.
We try to be careful about what we say – for obvious reasons lately – but sometimes we’re just speaking casually and not as a PR thing."
So…i interpet this as a way to say that "don't take every precise number as something definitive without the right context"

So…the whole "we ended up with 100 unique benches" (which btw could imply some sorts of finality on its own, but that's another discussion) could mean that they designed around 100 benches or so, but that doesn't mean that every single of them will actually end up in the final game, and maybe also that duplicate benches design will be less common overall, compared to HK at least.
Also possibly a higher density of benches could be another point to consider, since now there's the need to repair Hornet's tools, but it's hard to say for certain.

-Silksong Will be a Bigger Game than Hollow Knight

I don't really have a problem with this, i think it's quite plausible that this game will be bigger than HK overall, but i don't think by a lot, like HK X2 Size or stuff like that.

In the EDGE magazine, while talking about the astounding flexibility of Hornet's Moveset, they added that "And so suddenly, because of that, you can play a game that is as long as Hollow Knight or potentially longer"
Unless they are quite shy or prefer to not talk about this front, if the game was really so much bigger than Hollow Knight i suppose they would have said it with more confidence? i know that's not a major evidence, but i still wanted to point it out.

    -Polishing

Again, nothing wrong about this point, polishing DOES takes time, so even if SS is currently in that stage as of now, it could easily still take some months before it's finished.
However, something that needed to be specified a bit better was the "Two years after SS announcement trailer" that, while it's true ofc, doesn't really consider the time before that:
-I believe the idea for SS to be it's own game was taken very early, possibly even before HK was even out by then.
    – While not clear when, works on the new game began shortly after HK was out, however (and this is the part that's a bit harder to talk about), the development on the main game was split to dedicate it on the Content Packs, which i think it's why some of them did take a strangely long amount of time to be made, because Silksong was already in the works at the same time.
so, with all that, i think the time spent on Silksong's development…could be closer to 2 and half years, possibly even 3 full years, again it's hard to say for sure. But i also in the end it probably doesn't mean much anyway, since…i suppose making 2 somewhat similar games in not exactly the same thing as making 2 pizzas.

Sorry for the wall of text.

  4. I think you’re definitely reading too much into this. It was a really casual interview and they were speaking about the game in a more final way then normal. That’s not to say it’s coming really soon but I think a lot of your points are kind of just “well this isn’t necessarily true so it mustn’t be coming soon” which realistically isn’t the case. I would say with the amount of PR they’re doing, they must be trying to generate hype for the game at least a little. My guess is late spring early summer. They could realistically release at any time they want because what with Covid there’s much less competition from the triple A scene. Obviously this is just my take but I do think it is coming relatively soon.
