Why I'm Excited To Play WoW Again in 2020

There’s a brand new WoW patch launching today that brings a ton of changes I’m excited for. Including a pre-expansion Scourge invasion event, class overhauls, level squish, new intro zone, and an overhaul to the entire leveling experience.

I stream weekly here https://www.twitch.tv/forcegaming

At this point we’re unsure of how good – or not – Shadowlands will be as an expansion, but either way, I’m looking forward to jumping back in the game and leveling up some of the classes I’ve never tried. Today we cover the biggest aspects of this brand new update.

World of Warcraft is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game released in 2004 by Blizzard Entertainment. The game’s eighth expansion, Shadowlands, is set to launch later this year.

  1. so they both did a level squish and made it faster to gain level, how is that a good idea? you showed a clip of somine literally gaining two levels on one mob group.. great way to make every level "exciting".. than sending you straight to BFA, they just keep on the same page of making 90% of the game content irrelevant and only the last level matter

  2. Been leveling my new character in Outlands and it honestly feels so good. Levels make sense, and do feel rewarding. I have felt forced to do all the quests so far – and it feels like a challenge again, but still relatively easy to play. So far I am excited for Shadowlands

  3. 1. They heavily nerfed the prelaunch event to the point where there is not even any point in having it.

    2. The unprunning of classes isn't as good as people think, the best example of this would be paladins and their Auras. What blizzard did to paladins is took away passives that have been passive since vanilla and turn them into auras, the Auras are borderline useless. People like to point out that ret Aura as seeming good but it really isn't unless you are in LFR other than that it will almost never proc.

    3. While the scaling is a good bandaid fix it doesn't solve the problem of expansion level inflation if anything it makes progression feel worse and less meaningful. The scaling added was rushed and the amount of overlooked problems is insane. There has been tons of feedback on the forums of overtuned mobs being completely ignored with mobs still scaled to 120 numbers, there are also quest problems that didn't get fixed until a week before the prepatch (You couldn't even upgrade your garrison while leveling in WOD).

    4. Chromie time still has a massive problem with it and it is when you reach 50, at that level you automatically get kicked out of chromie time and teleported to stormwind against you will. While this is in the game to stop players from getting to level 60 while avoiding shadowlands it also stop the fundamental reason for chromie time. Since the early beta people have been asking blizzard to stop xp gains at 50 but still let people play through the scaled content.

Overall I think Shadowlands is going to be very disappointing with the current problems on the beta servers, the ptr servers, and the live servers. It seems like it's going to be a mess. I hope this doesn't become a WoD 3.0

  4. tbh slower rested xp consumption is not that bad, you will appreciate it later when there are more things to do on your main, so you can create a lot of alts (with easier allied races unlocks) and keep switching them in your spare time

  5. all the heirloom set bonuses suck. 99% of the time i level i'm in town turning in quests so i don't need to do damage… and by the time i pick up the new set of quests i have 10 seconds left of the bonus stats….

only real perk of heirlooms is that it's 6-8 pieces of gear your don't have to worry about ilvl.

  6. Honestly I don't quite understand hype of SL. It really just seems like BFA 2.0

Same powered power, same mechanics layered on mechanics.

While classes got a few new toys almost every class has nearly identical core rotations as BFA. Once the fresh car smell goes away I think people realize they still playing same class they hated in BFA.

To me it seems clear as day that SL is just a reskined BFA, and I have no idea why others have so much trouble noticing.

  7. See to me I love the long grindy leveling experience in classic wow. I had an absolute blast playing WoW Classic for 7 months! It forced you to go through every zone to level, quest, explore, do dungeons, and some fun pvp. I haven't played a retail wow since 2006 when I played BC so I don't know what to expect when I play Shadowlands. The whole fast leveling is such a turn off to me because to me that is a big part of the experience/adventure in an mmo. 12-15 hours to level 50? Like wtf man.. they need to at least have it take 3 days worth per character to get to level 50. Now I am like you and excited to go back and play the expansions I missed out on and I am excited to make alts for classes I have never played like the death knight. That will be fun but I hope end game gives me that passion I have with a long grindy adventure feeling that WoW Classic gave me.

  8. If anyone's interested in testing WoW again, now's the best time. If you left BFA because BFA is BFA, then… eh. It's only good if you plan to level another character or two. Don't come back with your max level character in decent gear expecting good because BFA is still dumb

  9. Oh wow how exciting. Let's homoginese classes by giving everyone same abilities. Now let's unhomoginise them by giving abilities that were in the past. Wow lvl squish, oh my, so many games are past lvl increase with each expansion. Blizz truly good at innovating. Wink wink.

  10. Dont do it. It's a trap! The only content here is on the cash shop. They delayed the prepatch event so there is really nothing to do other than level through zones you've seen for years. There's no word one when the expansion much less the rest of the prepatch comes out, yet they release a new transmog set on the cash shop.

  11. I kinda slacked off WOW when they put best gear behind RAIDS and mythic and got rid of PVP gear shit.. i mean come on i dont have time for that nor do i have a group to meet for mythic, all i wanted was PVP gear, glad they are bringing it back

  12. e-celebs 3months after expansion: Why i quit wow! It's a facebook game now, grind is awful, blah blah….

e-celebs 3months before new expansion: meh, they are out of ideas, reskins shit, blah…

e-celebs 1month before new expansion: oh my god, i'm hyped, this is going to be the best expansion, why i'm returning to wow!

This will continue (just like the past decade) and stupid people will pay more money to blizzard and sub to blizzard's awful sercives again.

  13. I'm a life-long RS player, stone cold brand new to the entire wow experience since this week. So far I've only gotten as far as level 30 on 2 characters but so far I'm having a blast. I cant wait to experience shadowlands with everyone as a brand new patch. But also I'm excited to try the older stuff and not be penalized 😊
