Why NieR Automata Hits Different | Yoko Taro's Masterpiece JRPG

(No Major Spoilers) Yoko Taro’s NieR Automata is one of the greatest games of the generation, and today I explain why it hit for me in a way no other game of late has.

  1. @thenightskyprince Man, the irony of you making this video now!
I'm 4 days late with posting this because I just saw this video today.

Ok, so I was driving from Atlanta back to New York (13 to 14 hour drive) this past Thursday, and was listening to music at random. I decided to listen to the Nier Automata soundtrack because I had never listened to it in its entirety.(I only downloaded it for my favorite song City Ruins/ Rays of light)

Between me speeding my ass off to "Song of the ancients" and damn near crying to "weight of the world" and all of it different versions, I had an absolute BLAST listening to the soundtrack. Oh the vivid visions of beating robot anus to this gorgeous and ingenious ost brought me such mental bliss as I drove! I couldn't wait to get home to replay the game. And I thought about you and wanted to post this very comment because I couldn't think of anybody else to share my excitement with over the soundtrack not knowing you had uploaded a new video about the game and to thank you.

I think about a year or two ago you mentioned it in one of your videos and I asked you if it was really that good, to which you replied it was one of your favorite rpg's of all time! I did not take this lightly being that you are a wise and a dedicated FF fan and made a YouTube channel and even quit your job for it!🔥🔥🔥

So thank you bro. If it wasn't for you I WOULD NOT have played this game. Between FFVII, Persona 5 and Nier Automata, I've have experienced nirvana.

Keep up the great work. I can't wait till you hit a million subs, because I was here before 20k.

My name is Dior Brown, and you sir, NSP, from the core of my soul, are the greatest!!!

P.S. sorry this was so long! Lol

  2. Nier and Final Fantasy in general hit different. I don't know what it is about final fantasy, but it just feels so BALANCED when it comes to grief, death, happy moments, fun moments, melancholy, and mundane tasks you do in everyday life. The characters in both games aren't overpowered but have great prowess that makes them interesting. The final fantasy series just feels so aesthetically pleasing. I always cry when I see the final fantasy XIII opening because of how grand and alluring it feels when the game first starts. It just feels so fresh. At first I didn't think much of the final fantasy series but after playing FFXIII, it's my favorite series.

  3. I beat Nier Automata on the PS4 a very long time ago. It was on sale on Steam recently. I'll beat it again with some Mods. Overall it's probably my most favorite game ever, other than Okami. The fight system is the best the story is amazing. There's nothing bad I can say about the game other than I wish there was more DLC, but I guess trying to get all the endings keeps you playing.

  4. I played this recently without prior knowledge of its content. It is beautifully macabre! It is thought provoking for people that like having their thoughts provoked by purpose, meaning, empathy and even embarrassment–

  5. The machines aren't based on their creator's likeness. They're based off of Emil's. When the aliens first arrived Emil was the only real resistance they encountered, so they modelled them after him.
    Spoilers

Technically you do kill god with the power of friendship. You kill the creators of the game (god) to free 2B and 9S of their cycle by help of the other players who have completed the game already (friendship).

  6. The game was alright to me. I just wish they did a bit more with what it had, and I missed the dumb jokes from the previous game(s) (not sure if the games are connected) Drakengard 3 was a fun game… They need to make a PS4 version of that one >.>

  7. Great game but I wouldn't call it a masterpiece

    Pros
    1) Excellent Music
    2) Great game play (as expected by platinum games)
    3) Interesting story

    1)Hacking game is obnoxious
    2) Frame rate issues – Ps4 version
    3) Outside of 2B Characters are pretty meh –

    4) too many NPC's and sections not voiced over

as I beat this game I noticed that it Cleary shared themes of neon genesis Evengelion or maybe even xenosaga/gears to a degree

I researched it and noticed Yoko Taro was inspired by Evangelion

  8. And guess what? You can now enjoy BOTH your favorite JRPGs in the SAME GAME!!! Yes! Final Fantasy XIV has a crossover going with Nier Automata in the form of the level 80 large-scale raid series! So far Copied Factory and Puppet's Bunker have been released and now we're just waiting on the third and final installment next major patch!

  9. Dude.. you're late to the party. And I recommend taking a look at Yoko's other works, mainly Drakengard 1 and 3. Gameplay-wise they didn't age well but the characters and story are.. ugh. Like you said, a one-of-a-kind-experience. Not for the faint of heart.

  10. I rmb my gameplay where i placed loads of those "speed increasers" into 2B and she would run super fast so i could get to places way faster than her already existing running speed 🤣 and it was amazinggg ♡ love this game to bits, i feel like no other game reaches the level of automata :'3

  11. I bought this shortly after it released and, not knowing how to heal, I didn't make it to the first save point before I dropped it and didn't pick it up again until maybe two months ago. So glad I came back. I absolutely love this game but as great as 2b, 9s and A2 are, I thought the machines, with all their charm, were the real stars of this game. Now whenever I pick up a baby I reply, "Child, child, child." And confuse people by saying, completely out of context, "Sure is a cutie though."

  12. What a fucking bullshit, that game was mediocre as hell, and don't worry I know how to judge games,
That game was shit starting from the empty world and going to the 4 buttons gameplay

Pls anime boring fucking kids, play real games, so you can understand what really a masterpiece is
