Why NOBODY Plays: Phoenix | Valorant

Welcome to another episode of my series Why Nobody Plays. In this miniseries I take a look at some of the least picked agents in Valorant and try to explain why those agents have such low pick rates. In this episode I will be talking about an agent that use to be really popular but has been declining in pick rate for a while now, Phoenix.

  1. Phoenix is arguably the most balanced agent in the entire game and is one of the duelists that is straight forward to use, little disappointing that I don’t see him as often as I used to. Hope my boy gets some love back pretty soon.

Also for his molly Hot Hands, I think Riot needs to remove that feature where at a certain point when it’s still in the air, it immediately goes crashing down to the ground. This would make it a lot more valuable and less annoying if you think an enemy is hiding around a corner, lineups, or if you are want to molly the spike post plant with about 15 seconds left, it would make it better for time crunch situations to just throw it in the air (either dying after or run away quickly), and let it come down naturally like Brimstone’s or Viper’s molly. I also could see his molly getting a time recharge for about 40-45 seconds instead of getting 2 kills, but that would remove the purpose of rewarding yourself for a quick heal.
I still think he’s in a good spot on how his balance is, but that’s the opinion I only have for Phoenix.

  2. Pls pls pls have a watch of a ytber called xtr's pheonix playstyle. He has a really interesting and unique deployment of utility in various situations; e.g: backwards flashing, flashing against a wall (based and signature flash), using ult to avoid sova/raze ult + covering ult spawn with wall for protection in overextended spots. Pls check him out and have a look at how versatile pheonix as an agent really is 🥺

  3. Yh I completely agree especially with the movement aspect every dualist has on in the game but Phoenix it kinda makes him lack something. The flash is easier to use but it’s weak blinded agents would spam and end up killing him I love the wall but the duration of it is too short and I feel as though the molly should have a greater radius

  4. there should be a way of cancelling the run back feature of his ult so it will be more useful and can prevent the dying because someone found where you used your ult

  5. Hey my guy forgot to talk about how often some random kid flash his teammate and being blamed for that. Also his flash had a high ceiling level, bc u had to timing and being creative about that. Creative i mean u need to be unexpective like flash backward, downward or know when to flasg high or low

  6. kay-o is nowhere near better than phoenix his flashes is slow and easy to dodge and his ult is coo depended 100% while phoenix's ult can be used in solo if the player have a bit of a brain not to mansion that phoenix can heal so much if he gets kills
phoenix is my main and in my opinion he is the best, but the upgraded ult that you talked about will actually make him way better

  7. Pheonix main here, I feel like Pheonix is on of those "easy to pick up, hard to master" type characters, his kit is super easy to understand and new player friendly, but the learning curve on his abilities gets super steep depending on your skill as a player, being able to be super self sufficient in a way other duelists cant. This might just be my bias since I love him so much, but I feel like he's the perfect agent if you're good enough at the right things.

  8. I like the ult change idea a lot. I assume if you were to get killed by an enemy, you'd end up going back. But this gives it more versatility. As for other changes, I would honestly say he should wait for other stronger agents to be nerfed/changed. I feel like Phoenix is one of the most balanced agents (if not the most balanced), which is why they've never really changed him much. I wonder if in a few months after some more balance changes if he might get better, as I don't see him getting nerfs at all.

  9. to be honest i play phoenix a lot, hes almost my main but hes really fun, his flashes are pretty versatile being able to do the xtr flash and stuff, his walls arent that good but if you're low with no healers in solo queue, his wall and molly can get you to about full, and walling off and then flashing through the wall is really nice
