Today on the Daily Fix, bad news for those of you still on the hunt for a PlayStation 5! It seems a PS5 won’t be any easier to hunt down amidst an AMD chip and capacitor shortage, slowing production of new consoles from Sony. The bad news isn’t all one-sided, however, as Sony is reportedly selling the $499 version of the PS5 at razor-thin margins, and the digital version at a loss. 1. They have the PS5s. This is a marketing tactic to drive up demand. Think what Jordans and Supreme do. They limit their releases and re-release items. You can't re-release technology so they're controlling the output so people continuously clamor for them.

  2. I don't get the point of selling a new console and hyping up people for it, considering you don't have enough produced and won't have the stock for years to come. I really wanted to get my first PlayStation around Christmas time, however, after seeing how things have turned out (i.e. PS5 pre-orders & scalper army buying out what's available) – I don't really want one anymore.
For all I care – Sony can keep their PS5 and never release a single one.
