Why Valheim Is A Masterpiece

Valheim is the latest and greatest survival game where you live the life of a Viking and survive in an environment full of monsters and unpredictability. It is a brutal exploration and survival game for 1-10 players, set in a procedurally-generated purgatory inspired by Viking culture. Battle, build, and conquer your way to a saga worthy of Odin’s patronage!

  1. I feel the same way i've invested time into games like minecraft but I always get burnout but I havent felt like i've been able to invest in a game for years on end for a long time now I think there being too many other games that all feel equally good with some pros and cons is part of the problem same issue with music these days nowadays oversaturation means as a song or game it has to stand out from the rest!

and it does valheim makes me feel like i'm on a sense of adventure and I don't have to worry a bout graphics cause it doesn't matter in this game which is strange cause i'm the guy who uses ptgi shaders and texture packs in minecraft to keep my interest

maybe down the line when I've completed the story i'll do mods to keep interest perhaps but nothing pertaining to making the game easier… which brings me to another point I feel like in minecraft I die so often that reaching the end and beating the ender dragon or having netherite I earned myself is a pipe dream… lately I been struggling to just find diamond(really bad bout of bad luck)

but it feels like theres no such issue on this game I can have my fun and play it solo and then once i've done that i'm gonna join servers and see what it's like to play together with others collaboratively.

in minecraft it felt collaboration was optional on servers go find a claim for yourself you don't need others help… but in velheim it feels like if your sharing in a server you gotta work together to survive and strangely I feel like I want to! usually in minecraft you gotta see if ya can trust someone first!

but i'm getting the vibe on velheim its not the same i'm not sure about pvp servers though i'll prob look for a pve community i'm too personal when it comes to competitive so it's better I stay out of it!

the only cons i've come across in this game is:
-base building in the woods isn't possible cause thats where all the mobs are which is a shame because the forest has it's own beauty but there happened to be a troll spawn, shaman spawn and 3 dungeons nearby

so I had to abandon my forest outpost because it was being attacked literally every 5 mins as mob spawns seem to work like traditional mmo's(i found the open field near where you start the game if the field is big enough doesn't get attacked as long as theres no torches visible from the forest which seems to be what brings raids)

    – the ocean has no floating mechanics… threw a spear at the deer that ran into the ocean… Too Bad you'll never see it again.

any droppable item you can think of will roll down to the depths of the ocean never to be recovered if the beach incline is steep enough some can go a small distance out and just be within range of pickup while swimming but I recommend eating Multifoods so your stamina bar is bigger and also building your max stamina and also getting your swimming lv up while in shallow waters

as for food choices I do regular meat as 1. neck lizard tails as 2. and rasperry, honey and blueberries as 3.the latter is the biggest pain I run out of honey quicker than my bees can make it and the berries just don't respawn fast enough but somehow due to the variety of choices it balances out somehow as long as i go the distance to gather the blueberries!

  2. I came to this video because there were A LOT of people in the MMO Rift talking about Valheim so I figured to watch a YouTube to get an idea of what everyone in Rift was talking about. I think I'll stick with Rift at least until Gamigo shuts it down in a couple of months.

  3. Your writing is like a high schooler writing an essay paper. It's pretty bad. Also, you can tell you're a youngster by the way you talk about things. Go listen to IGN's review of this and hear what an article by a professional writer sounds like. I think if you improve your writing, you'll be well on your way to being an awesome reviewer. You have all the other things except writing and life experience imo

  4. first time finding your channel but enjoy the review, I have over 100 hours in and I am really enjoying it. I never got into minecraft but I love other survival progression type games. What I love about this game is that it is challenging. You can die a lot if you aren't careful. Sure some people probably breeze through but if you go into a new "biome" before you are prepared, you usually die. That makes it appealing to me.

  5. I'm with ya bud, The last game I was hooked on was Rust but that kinda wore off a few years ago an no new game has taken it's place…. Until Valheim. I got this game a week ago and LOVING IT! best game in a long time! I love that the character save and the world save are 2 separate things. It means you can bring your character to another players world which is an interesting dynamic that not a lot of other games offer.

  6. "Games just don't hold our interest anymore" – 100% agree and have had that issue like you explain at the start of the video…until Valheim. 200+ hours in and still loving it endlessly.

  7. Same here it’s incredible. I spent big bucks on cyberpunk, legion, and so many other games in 2020 desperately trying to find an addictively fun game. Then 2021 hands me this 20 dollar less than 1 gig wonder and I haven’t stopped playing it for weeks on end. The time, emotion, and pride I feel at making it through another biome and another boss feels so good and now they have announced 4 new biomes and bosses and mini bosses as well as cult of the wolf and dark elf bandits?! I pray this game dominates all year long and continues growing a massive community. I wanna see this game dominate even the aaa landscape as an example of what an actual quality game full of genuinely wonderful gameplay can be and that it doesn’t come from hype or a massive budget but actual devoted devs and creators who care about what they are putting out.

  8. Great commentary on a great game. I totally relate to running out of interest in most new games, but I do live this one! Thanks. I can see why you have such a good following.

  9. It really is Terraria but 3d. It's not truly a survival game at, but an exploration and adventure focused rpg. It can be unforgiving dying in the middle of nowhere, but it rewards preparation. The base building aspect is easily the most I've ever had with building systems in a game, to the point that I have to myself to go out and do stuff that isn't building. The atmosphere is perfect, the music memorable and enjoyable. As an overall package the game has truly phenomenal value.

  10. It's refreshing to have a game made for all ages, that appeals to many types of people and does everything well. Story, combat, adventure, building, crafting…all well done and feel very polished. This isn't really and early access game either, it's pretty much a finished product if you ask me with lots of room to expand…especially considering the state of the rest of the options out there. Best thing for me is that is feels legitimately challenging in an organic, fair way.

  11. There is an aspect that I think greatly greatly contributed to the game success that I dont think people realize (at least I didnt hear no one meantioning it). And that is how they handled movement. What I mean is that you can "feel" movement. I don't know how to put that in words very well. But for example, you kinda can feel the thread when you are pulling a cart (that is the feeling Im refering). The only time I felt this playing a game was when I started playing counter strike 1.5, when you mastered bunny hopping and whatnot. This factor is subtle but is half the way to get immersion right.

  12. Dude I have the same problem. I have a hard time getting into games now. I think it may be that you realize you don't have unlimited time when you're older

  13. The last 3 games I got hooked on since quarantine started last march: 1. Terraria (I was really late to the party, but oh boy did I love that game), Haydes (My game of the year for 2020) and now Valheim. AAA games are in a terrible spot right now and I think the future of the gaming industry lies on creative indie studios and honestly I'm all for it.

  14. It was a great game but not the way you make it sound, I was done my last boss on day 204 and now have collected materials for biomes that aren't released yet. I've made every recipe and item ingame built a giant stone fortress ect. I hunger for more and that equals to 117 hrs of game time.

  15. Valheim succeeds on the same kind of merits as Subnautica. It's small, but concentrated. It's not graphically groundbreaking but it conveys everything effectively. It's new and raw but very alive. It needs some technical ironing but it's enthralling. It's simplistic and has hard limits but has an incredibly strong foundation with massive potential for expansion.

It has flaws, but it's REAL in all the ways that matter.
