Sony’s had a shaky history with backwards compatibility, and thankfully PS5 handles it beautifully for PS4 games. But right up to launch and even now, everyone is asking for PS3, PS2, and PS1 support. In an ideal world you’d only need one console, but since that’s not gonna happen.. how about two? In fact, I’d argue that’s a really great setup. Two consoles, 27 years of games at your fingertips. Let’s talk about what PS3 models you should look at, the compatibility you can expect, and why hardware reliability might be a thing of the past. Oh yes.. there will be games. (Awful movie reference, but I couldn’t think of anything clever).

You need 2 Microsoft consoles to cover them all. Xbox 360 has a much larger backward compatibility list with the original xbox than the One/Series.
I still have my PS3 Slim (looking for the phat thicc classic one for collection) and still playing it 😀 Also subbed, after watched your PS5 UI video got me hooked and cant wait for mines and makes me wanna open my PS3 and PS2 back up again 🙂

It’s always baffled me why Sony didn’t just release a limited edition super expensive (for profit) PS5 console that plays all 5 generations. I’d be will to play up to $2000 for this kind of console.

That's exactly what i have PS3 + PS5, so i can play most games on least devices. PS3 is 60GB CECH04 so sadly no full PS2 hardware inside but that's earliest PS3 model in Europe. I love the build quality of it and how much stuff it can play (CD, DVD, BLURAY)
I got burned bad with a used/refurbished backwards compatible PS3. Bought in July 2016, died in January 2017. Obviously, I wasn't going to spend $ to have an already used/refurbished console fixed again. I eventually learned that the battery in those specific types of PS3 burn out super quick, so I highly recommend nobody ever buy a backwards compatible PS3. Not worth the investment for something that may only last a few months, if that.
Final fantasy 8 PS1 disc never worked on my PS3 which was odd :/

Just got my backwards compatible 3 now I can enjoy all 5 generation of games on my 8k tv setup already had my ps5 since launch day and I’m so happy finally able to play all my old games aswell as anything new
you should totally make a video on how to permanently fix a PS3, because there are virtually no proper videos showing how to do this at home without equipment that costs thousands
Add a PS TV and you can get most physical vita and digital psp games as well. Also I can't see a problem with a ps1 and 2 emulator on the ps5. It should just happen. But that's my opinion.

I feel like the only big thing bc ps3 can't do is play guitar hero 1&2 and guitar hero rock the 80s. GH 1 apparently will work with usb converter tho.
Or own a Xbox Series X or a PC and get it all in one
