Why You Should Play: CONTROLLERS | Valorant

Welcome to my Valorant mini series where I talk about the all 4 of the roles in the game! In this series I talk about what each role is, what their job is in a team comp, as well as specific skills you can work on while playing each role in hopes of convincing some of you to try out them out. In this episode I talk about Valorant’s smoker role, Controllers.

  1. I am a controller main now, and for what I learned so far, is to always smoke deep into certain points. For example the heaven in bind, screen in split, and many more. One ways also a good learning point that can be crucial especially in defense.

  2. I wanted to be a sentinel main at the start but seeing as nobody wants to play controller in iron and bronze, i had to flex to smoke. I've climbed up to silver now and I still play controller.

  3. A video about smokes would be really helpful both for players who have some experience with the role of a controllers and for noobs like me, since everyone could get something useful from that

  4. I always think that the controller is the best person to carry the bomb (exception is Viper). Duelists are entry fragging and you don’t want the first guy in dying and dropping bomb for the enemy. Sentinels are better off staying alive and watching flanks. Initiators can also take this job, but I feel like it suits the controllers more, because after smoking they can run in and plant, and an initiator can cover with flashes, or in Sova’s case, shock darts and recon bolts.

  5. As an omen main, I'd like to see the good smokes video. Things like the proper timing of smokes and the like would be very useful information, as well as identifying a bad smoke.

  6. Only watching because there’s a chance they mention the weird people who play brim, you know who I mean, the one dude who holds weird angles on the map that no one ever checks, then the second you walk by you get triple dinked with their bulldog that has been adsed for the last 4 rounds

  7. I always have to smoke cuz I don’t trust nobody with smokes cuz they so clueless or no one picks them. I always try to stay alive to provide as many smokes, smoke when my team’s pushing by looking at the minimap (making sure they’re not jutting out of doorways), and put one ways and smokes when enemies push, but I get flamed for being the last person alive even though no one ever pushes when I smoke. Plz make a video so I can figure out if I’m doing anything wrong

  8. controllers are one of the most useful agents but its one of the least picked(at least when someone solo qs) ik this game is just for fun but sometimes sacrificing being 12/22 with reyna and playing a smoke is better, ive never seen any player yet that is enthusiastic about playing controller and instalocks controller everytime espeacially when playing with randoms so its always gotta be the last guy to pick(which mostly me cus potato laptop)
