—World Of Warcraft Shadowlands Description—

NEW WORLD
THE SHADOWLANDS
What lies beyond the world you know? The Shadowlands, resting place for every mortal soul—virtuous or vile—that has ever lived. Journey through planes of torment and imprisonment to those of rebirth and eternal reward.

NEW PLAYER HUB
ORIBOS, THE ETERNAL CITY
Oribos is the arrival point for all souls who enter the Shadowlands. At this crossroads, the dead are judged by the impassive Arbiter before being sent to their final destinations, and Oribos’ denizens swap gossip and anima—soulstuff that serves as both power and currency.

NEW FEATURE
COVENANTS
Align yourself with one of four Covenants—mysterious sects, each with their own ambition for the Shadowlands—to restore balance to the hereafter.

You’ll gain access to your Covenant’s Sanctum, where you’ll accept unique quests, undertake a sprawling covenant campaign, and call upon your allies to embark on important missions. You‘ll also earn unique abilities based on your Covenant and class, acquire a unique mount and visual appearance, and forge bonds with powerful souls, drawing on their essence to further customize your skills.

NEW FEATURE – INFINITE DUNGEON
TORGHAST, TOWER OF THE DAMNED
Once, the Jailer kept only the most dangerous souls in the cosmos confined in this eternal prison. Now, some of Azeroth’s greatest heroes are trapped here, and you’ll need to rescue them from the Jailer’s tower before he expends their very souls.

Torghast is an endlessly replayable, ever-changing dungeon that you can challenge alone or in a group. Your runs will differ each time, but you’ll need to explore cautiously. Death comes at a terrible cost. Defeat enough of Torghast’s unpredictable challenges, and you’ll be rewarded with unique abilities and items to ensure your present survival or bolster your next run. The further you progress, the greater your likelihood of retrieving materials to craft the legendary weapons and armor that will help you restore balance to the Shadowlands.

Other secrets lie within the tower… but they’re yet to be revealed.

GAME UPDATES
LEVELED-UP LEVELING
World of Warcraft: Shadowlands will smooth out the leveling experience and better prepare new adventurers for what’s to come. Players will level up to 50 before heading to the Shadowlands (new level cap: 60).

We’ve adjusted the experience curve to make it faster than ever to prepare for the newest challenges, and each level along the way will provide more meaningful increases in progress and power. All expansion zones are getting more flexible, too; they’ll be able* to scale to you and your friends while you level to 50, so it’s easy to try a zone you’ve never played.

*You can still outlevel dungeons and crush them for transmogs or fulfillment.

GAME UPDATES
NEW CHARACTER CUSTOMIZATION
In World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, you will be able to become the hero you’re meant to be. All-new customization options for characters will be available, from varied skin tones to facial features, new tattoos, hairstyles, earrings, and more. Just visit your friendly appearance agitator in Oribos, or the local barber shop back on Azeroth. It’s time to give your main a makeover.

  1. new island looks really good! impressive. Level squish is awesome! Some great moves tbh. Almost tempts me back to wow. Now we need another area for 10 to 20 20 to 30 etc even if they reuse old assets / expansions. Take the best of the old experiences and give it some pop. If only they could do this for the entire experience of wow up to the point of end game dungeons / raids. Then make it super hard 😀

  2. My wife and I had tried WoW before and never got far, because we didn't find the new player experience particularly engaging. We'd heard they'd introduced a new better zone for new players, so we tried Exile's Reach recently. We generally liked the spectacle and the humour of it, but found it really immersion breaking, boring, and overbearing.

It was way too easy to make the game seem interesting to us at all. We didn't like that none of the mobs would aggro us unless we attacked them first, that there never seemed like any chance of failing or dying regardless of how bad we played, and how we played just the two of us against the bear that's supposedly for three players with no problems whatsoever and we saw someone solo it just like TheLazyPeon did. When we got to the dungeon we went "ok, maybe this is it. Maybe the dungeon will be a really cool challenge where you actually have to work together as a team and do some mechanics." But no, it was a let-down just like the rest of it.

I get that it's supposed to be a sort of tutorial, and we would have continued playing after Exile's Reach to see if the game gets less boring, except that as soon as we got out of Exile's Reach the game suddenly no longer allowed us to group together any more. We could keep playing solo for free, but if we wanted to play together we'd have to pay for the game. I understand they need to make money somehow and locking some features behind a paywall isn't a problem. But given that the game so far is too boring to be worth spending money on being allowed to play together, and given that neither of us is interested in playing a supposed multiplayer game alone, we're not going try finding out whether it gets better.

As such I feel that while this addition to the game is certainly better than before at introducing new players to the game, it doesn't do much to address the fundamental issue the game has in regards to new players. Not for me and my wife at least. The game isn't making a particularly convincing sales pitch to justify spending money on it. We have friends telling us the game is really good later on, but if that's true, nothing in the starting area is representative of that. Except for the spectacle and the humour, nothing in that starting area was fun. Doing those quests didn't make us want to do more quests like them, fighting that bear didn't want us to fight more supposedly dangerous mini-boss mobs like it, doing that first dungeon didn't make us want to play more dungeons like it. If the game has good quests, challenging mini-boss mobs, and challenging dungeons later on, it should give you a taste of that in the introduction to make you want spend the money on continuing to play it. If the "sales pitch" takes longer than Exile's Reach, the game shouldn't lock you out of grouping until the sales pitch is done.

This is especially frustrating to me, because I'm actively searching for an mmo, and I really want to like WoW. I would really love to like WoW. But it seems the game is actively trying to put me off playing it, and I just don't understand why.

  3. After trying to get into wow for the last 4 to 5 years, I was finally able to do it with this pre-patch lol. I've really been enjoying it. I wish I stuck with the game back years ago, but it was daunting to learn even then.

  4. Interesting note about the end of your video, wr.t. the "having to do BFA if it's your first character on a new realm"…I thought the same, but all you do, is start the questline, let Jaina take you to BFA, do the intro quests, and as soon as you've opened the portals back to SW, you can go back to SW, and pick an expac from Chromie…same goes for Horde side 🙂

  5. A lot of players Are simply rude. All you ever hear is "How come your gear score so low"? Hey about about shutting the hell up and let people enjoy the game they are paying for.

  6. Question: Since Cata removed the old undercity, if you choose to level up your character with wrath content what is gonna happen after the wrath gate stuff? does anyone know

  7. @TheLazyPeon Hey man there is a game that is about to have a Beta test on the 3rd of this month called 'Naraka: Bladepoint', looks pretty interesting and has the same style of combat as BDO, with other mechanics mixed in. Might be worth having a look at. Great videos as always, keep it up.
