Xbox Performance to be UNLEASHED. How both the Xbox Series X Mesh Shaders functionality and SDK Updates Will Change Everything

The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S are Microsoft’s newest consoles, and have had a rather interesting bring up. Microsoft’s changes to a different SDK (known as GDK), the late receipt of the console SoCs thanks to delays in the RDNA 2 bring up, and currently Xbox Series games are not leveraging the Mesh Shader functionality of the console.

This will be changing in the next year though, as games will start to come out which uses both Mesh Shader and other functionality a lot more extensively, as well as Microsoft’s newer GDKs being released and coming into the hands of developers, which should allow developers to really help optimize with the Xbox hardware.

Sony’s Playstation 5 has very robust and excellent development kit and optimization software, so Microsoft’s catch up here is incredibly important.

In the future I’ll be putting out updated videos on the PS5’s Geometry Engine and its importance in Virtual Reality with the PSVR2.

  1. Thing is we know next to nothing about the GE coz Sony decide not to talk about the specs. I think end of the day the real game changer will be nanite from UE5 which both consoles will use so it won’t really make any difference in performance to either console apart from first party games which prioritise mesh shaders or GE

  2. I said the next time I here the word tool I will punch a bot in the face. This is rubbish a software company being late come on Microsoft was experimenting with all the next gen features before even PS5 was a thing these excuses are getting worse.

  3. With Mesh Shaders (and Primitive Shaders for that matter), should remember that quite a many game engines already do primitive culling in Compute Shaders, so the performance bump may be not be as drastic as one might one expect, or as drastic as marketing material might suggest.

  4. I think the Xbox will be the long term winner as it’s basically in line with pc with how it goes about things and technologies it uses where as Sony have done some clever but proprietary things, devs are going to be able to work with Xbox much more easily as a result of the common language and feature set.

  5. What amazes me is that people come to Paul because they believe he's credible…UNTIL he says something that you Don't wanna hear. Obviously this is true or he would not have put it out there. Congrats to you Paul for being honest and not going with a narrative that would attract clicks.

  6. Paul, you’re digging that hole deeper huh? No one believes you. PS5 is confirmed to miss a couple key features you claim it has through sources you confirmed to be working on the PS5 at Sony. You lied. But you keep hiding.
