Xbox consoles are still important to Xbox because they push people into the ecosystem and also push gamepass. Hence its why Xbox and Phil Spencer said they are committed to consoles. Console/PC/Gamepass/xcloud are all a means to grow.

Every gamer should be in favor of MS gaining a larger market share this gen. You don’t want PS to dominate again. If we look at the PS4 and PS5, they had very little reason to innovate and give us limited features in software and services because ppl were buying them regardless. Competition is the best thing. Look at Xbox One how it evolved so much with so many features and services like GamePass and becoming the #1 gaming friendly platform. It’s not so much because MS wanted to, it’s due to the fact they were so behind.
