  1. Rumours around an acquisition of Sega come and go. I think a partnership is more likely. In regards to Konami, I think they will just licence out their IPs. If anything I think an acquisition of Square Enix or Capcom is more likely (similar to the Zenimax acquisition where we never heard any rumours about it and we only found out about it when there was a joint press release by both Zenimax and Microsoft.

  2. Very much doubt it will be a purchase of konami, because they don't have any game making studios anymore. Could be a partnership or buying ips, but if konami sells them, they have basically nothing left. Sega seems much more up Xbox's alley, especially considering they have history with them

  3. I really doubt we're going to see aquisition on a scale of Zenimax from Xbox in a long time. Maybe some smaller developer like Techland but certainly not Sega or Konami. Microsoft already spend over 7 billion dollars right now. I think Microsoft suits will wait for new games, especially from Bethesda and they will see if Game Pass is growing enough for them to consider spending this sum of money once again.

On the other hand Microsoft is filthy rich, so who really knows.

  4. Probably Sega and Konami are already in agreement for acquisition, but Phil just doesn't want to spit out. He'll just teased little by little and then use the word that can mean many thing like he did with the word "SOME" so that people keep talking about Xbox-Sega-Konami especially talking about the exclusivity.

    History repeats itself.
    Well atleast that's what i thought 😅😅

  5. IMO Phil looks a studios with leadership they are confident in. Satya Nadella basically gave Phil a blank checkbook to acquire talent under the condition that they are able to manage these studios.
If you look at the studios acquired in the last year they are teams led by icons of the industry.

  6. If it does end up true, this could help them out with the Japanese market, and GamePass. It’s also good for Konami because they aren’t really doing much with their IP’s, and Microsoft also has a pretty good relationship with Sega since the Dreamcast days.

  7. Still reckon Paradox Interactive might be in the mix here too, loads of stuff on GamePass, getting them would be great for GamePass on PC in particular, probably the biggest 4x and RTS publisher in the world now. And might' explain some of the delay around Bloodlines too.

If I was putting money on the next acquisition, they'd be one of my bets. But a Japanese company makes total sense and will happen.

  8. Sega fits Nintendo and Konami fits PlayStation way more considering their history.

Btw Astal is a known fanboy in the console war Twitter community. Anything that will upset PlayStation fan boys

  9. Sega just makes sense. The history is there and Phil has had a very "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach, and he's very hands off, so that's probably appealing to these companies: support and budget from a trillion dollar corporation with very little over management. The REAL crown jewel here for MS would be that they'd get Atlus and Persona along with a SEGA buy out.

  10. Rumors speculation highly unlikely, these are not private owned corporations that havecother types of divisions with gambling machines which microsoft would not want. These are not pivate owned. They dl better buying konam's ips ,or buying hurting se. Se is not private but their holdings i dont think,is involved in casino machines like konomi. Se as a publisher has azdiverse range of ips.
