  1. @Zepla HQ I've been a final fantasy fan pretty much my whole life but 14 always intimidated me away cause the game is an mmo. idk why but classic wow seemed a lot less intimidating to me so i did play that for a year. while I had a lot of fun with classic, I found after a year I needed to quit the game at least until bc comes out. The game just wasn't really fun to me anymore. But thanks to your videos and your enthusiasm talking about 14 I finally have started playing. I am having a wonderful time so far. tyvm <3

  2. I think agree with everything except with transportation. There is a point to big, open maps without loading screens. Its a bit different nowadays with all the portals you have, but its kinda fun and immersive to me, that there are certain routes you gotta take to get somewhere. The aetherytes make the open world feel very underwhelming. FF14 has the better music overall, but wow has ambient music mastered.

  4. I just started playing FF14, and I love it so far (apparently it gets better as you go, yahooo). I actually found your channel while watching Asmongold videos. I really missed wow when I quit. I'd lost interest in the game, but I missed playing with other people. FF14 looks like it is going to be just as great in that regard.

  5. I've abandoned WoW, and started playing FFXIV (on and off since ARR). In WoW's defense though, it's very hard to balance 3 talent trees per class, whereas XIV only has one. Esp for pure dps class, they learn 3 playstyle (even more for some class like hunters), whereas XIV you can give one class and all their button presses will be exactly the same.

Don't get me wrong, I love XIV, but I wish they would add more customizability just for a bit more personal touch to the class. Though I know, should this happen, the balance may be broken too, just like WoW's.

But other than that, yes I do agree XIV is still superior in the rest of the discussed aspects.

  6. Story – You want to talk about the corruption focus when literally every single major story arc in FFXIV just ends with an Ascian? There's also some Garlean/Allagan/whatever the hell that cybernetic/futuristic garbage is in every expansion. It's overdone. Also the making the WOL the center of the story is cheapened by the fact that there's millions of WOLs.

Devs – It's literally impossible to please everyone. There's always going to be people who aren't satisfied with how a game is played. Covenants only matter if you're min-maxing, everything's within 10% of each other from best to worst. If FFXIV devs gave the smallest shit about the players they'd fix the horrible engine the game is played on.

Jobs – While there's definitely classes that are better than others in a vacuum for WoW, that changes every patch. People who play the FotM are destined to fail, and this gives different mains a time to shine and perform well. FFXIV is relatively balanced, sure, but there's 100% a meta in FFXIV. DRG was taken to everything while NIN, SAM, and MNK got benched always. DNC was trash on release, GNB is still far and away the best DPS tank, WHM is the best DPS healer, etc. No one's taking a RDM over a SMN/BLM for serious prog.

Music – You can have this one. FF titles have always had banging soundtracks. But, while I'm raiding, I tend to listen to comms/callouts/DBM-style addons so I don't listen to the music much.

Complexity – There's a reason for this. FFXIV is literally all scripted. There's some savage content you could literally clear blindfolded. WoW rewards players for using cooldowns/burst and so on at opportune times. The rotation/priority system is good because you need to be able to make better decisions on the fly, rather than "ooh this button is lit up, let me push it". FFXIV rewards players for being able to count to 15 in order.

Gear/Glam – That's one of the things I wish WoW would adopt. More glam, better graphics, and being able to dye/customize your look. They added it somewhat with the customization options but it falls short for sure.

Community – It's definitely friendlier on FFXIV because of the culture, but on that same note, I've met more disgusting humans on FFXIV than I have on WoW. WoW players may cuss you out, call you trash, whatever. FFXIV people will get you to trust them and betray you. They're a lot more sinister (and this is not only my personal experience but I've heard that from a few others, too). Also note the fact that saying someone is "bad" at FFXIV can literally get you banned, so it's almost like people are forced to be nice.

Transport – Having the portal system is nice, for sure. I play a mage, can't really relate, but I see the point. Bear in mind, there's a whole mess of dead space in FFXIV zones where WoW is more content-dense. FFXIV will have you bouncing back and forth across the universe for a "talk-to" quest, where things in WoW are more centralized.

Rep – All rep grinds are completely optional for both games and require you to do quests, often repeatable quests that you've probably seen before. It's no different.

One Character – Kind of on the fence about this one because I enjoy being able to customize different characters and level them. Plus, all classes have ~3 specializations so it dips a bit deeper into the focus of the class. Like a Paladin for example, could be DPS, Tank, or Heal. It functions the same way. It's definitely convenient but also punishes you for alt content like Savage reclears. Say you want to gear up another job class? You're gonna be waiting weeks on end or leveling a new character all the way to level cap (and leveling in FFXIV is a absolute shitshow). Plus, FFXIV doesn't give you enough bag space to hold all the gear and other junk unless you're literally paying monthly for additional retainers.

Viera – They're cute. But I'll take any of WoW's elf classes over the tragedy that is the Elezen race.

Customization – Yep, the graphic capability on FFXIV is much higher. It was released much later in time. But it also really begs the question: are you playing a game to make your character look good or because you want to enjoy the content? Some will argue both but FFXIV just really doesn't have much replay value. The game becomes just a fashion show eventually. It's Second Life with a combat system.

Animations – Back to the graphics thing again. 95% of players turn effects off in FFXIV because they're just distracting, flashy, or annoying.

G-Pose – Another graphics thing. WoW concedes to FFXIV in the screenshot department.

Crafting – Can't comment, literally level 0 across the board on FFXIV Crafter/Gatherers.

Bugs – I'm just going to say "Server Tick" to debunk any discussion on this whatsoever. In addition, might not be "bugs" but like being unable to whisper people while instanced, being unable to accept an invite while you have a menu open, etc. Seriously? The engine is garbage.

You make some good points but the sum of everything is that FFXIV has better graphics than WoW and falls short basically everywhere else in reality. To each their own

  7. I still think the dev should not just listen to the players just because.. as long as they got a vision for the game and making honest effort then thats fine by me…. taking the feedback is not bad but it should not be a key factor

  8. Common knowledge video. Retail just hasn't been good since legion and even that is subjective. I played FFXIV and really enjoyed it, but got burned out. (I leveled several classes to max and did most of my crafting.) So now if I want to play an MMO I play a wow private server of WOTLK. I think just as a whole MMOs are a dying genre sadly.

  9. remember that time in stromblood when the MSQ was busted and they had to bottle neck the MSQ instance. The line of people going alll the way to the bridge!!!! I'll forever be able to say I was one of the 1% of people to get to kugane during them first few days after SB launch. Only big bug I can remember

  10. do we think this list would be different if it was being compared to wow classic/tbc?? cause current wow is trash lets face it, in classic class variety and uniqueness is great plus the story is far far better allowing the player to get involved with it at their own pace, now its just stupid and badly written lol, i think for me what it bogs down to is play wow if you wanna pvp and play ffxiv if you wanna pve

  11. Great Video, just started playing FFXIV (former WoW player) and I love it. I just lost all interest in Shadowlands expansion, so playing FFXIV feels refreshing. Good job on the video, greetings from Belgium!

  12. Wow PvP puts ff14 into the grave that is really the only reason why I think wow is still alive. FF14 has come a long way on the pvp front but it is still behind wow by quite a bit imo. SE has struggled with this since ff11, remember ballista ooofff.

  16. The endgame raids live savage and ultimate fights feels much more challenging and rewarding, since it challenges not only our ability to master the class you play but it ends up always introducing new mechanics that makes the fights more and more interesting when they get release! The trial they offer is much more interesting since you can do ARR and HW including dungeons, raids and contents available, and the developers even made sure that some of the new content like The Bozjian southern front which allows player to also farm hw fates to play with the trial players at the same time. Blue mage class is really nice because it's not you're typical kind of class and it's got it's own challenges and achievements to complete. Basically so much more hahaha!

  17. I rarely comment on videos but I disagree with the story also the complexity I would like you to take second look at stories of world of Warcraft from each character into the main story it is much deeper than ffxiv I like both games and I believe that each of them got there own charm my only problem with ffxiv is that the combat is too slow everything else has been fun to me I wish you see my comment 🙂
