Apex Legends BACKLASH For REMOVING Tap Strafing

Apex Legends is putting an end to the controversial tap strafing movement exploit, but not everyone is happy about it.

Tap strafing had become a common occurrence in Apex Legends, the act of basically pulling off a sharp turn in mid air to make yourself much harder to hit by enemies on the ground, and on mouse and keyboard it was actually fairly easy to learn the exploit by just binding your jump button to the middle mouse wheel. But apparently, the exploit being much easier on Mouse and keyboard and almost impossible on controller is exactly why Apex Legends is getting rid of tap strafing.

Saying they are supporters of cross platform play, and that tap strafing gave an unfair advantage to the PC players that the console players or pad players couldn’t interact with, Apex has announced it will be removed in the next patch. However, mainly Apex players were against the move, saying that pad players already had an advantage thanks to aim assist, and that it was an unfair nerf to PC players.

Regardless of how the Apex Legends community feels, it seems the devs have spoken, and tap strafing will be no more in a few days. But with no tap strafing to defend themselves, will PC players lose ground to console and pad players in Apex Legends esports and ranked gameplay? We will have an answer within days of the tap strafing removal going live.

  1. Can't even compare the two ones a movement mechanic while the others helping with aim, of course people will be pissed off and m&k will never be the same as controller as far as being on a level playing field

  2. The aim assist vs tap strafing arguments make no sense. Controller has aim assist because it needs it (although I agree console AA is a bit too strong) while M&K doesn't need tap strafing, I don't want it removed, just tweaked and they can certainly have both inputs be balanced without removing certain mechanics all together. You can be mad about it being removed without bringing controller players into the mix, they have nothing to do with this

  3. What people don't understand is that there are different departments when it comes to issues. There's a specific department who's focused on CHEATING, there's also a department who's focused on in-game events. Another department is for development like bug fixes/game change mechanics etc. Those people who think that Respawn should focus only on CHEATING specifically doesn't know how a business works.

  4. People keep bringing aim assist into the argument. Was aim assist designed to balance M&K tap strafing??? M&K have so many advantages against controller players. Its would be very unfair to nerf the one advantage controller has. Respawn is nerfing a movement that was never intended to be in the game in the first place. M&K players are upset because this nerf doesn't affect controller and if they are losing something, controllers should lose something too. Truthfully I would rather a better matching system so I'm not constantly playing people who have 10x to 20x the kills on one character then I have on all my characters. And I dislike watching pros no fill pubs and destroying entire lobbies and then bag on people for smurfing. Looks like the same thing to me…..

  5. AKA all the new cod fanboys are complaining and we need to remove SKILL GAP. we need to cater to the 9-5 guys who have no thumbs who play on wifi and a 70 inch TV on a default ps4 controller. this is so DUMB. as a controller player i gotta stand up for tap strafers because games with more skill gap is needed man. dumbing it down for mobile dumbest thing ever. ITS about the principle man. next they removing wall bounce, next they removing FOV cause what mobile has a hard time?

  6. Some neckbeard will find another “unfair” movement mechanic and every TTV wannabe will be all over it for months so are we really missing out on much? The only problem I have is that Respawn Is removing it before addressing the main problems with game.

  7. All the tap strafe using people who because of that achieved more, than people who didn't even know or couldn't physically do it, are crying now. Why is everybody only talking about controllers having aim assist, when if using a mouse, it is also impossible to track a tap strafer. It is dogwater. Especially if people do it with a macro (like Timmy), which is even stronger than the mouse wheel ( about 1 1/2 as strong as mouse wheel ), and people started double tap strafing too. It is reasonable to take it out.

  8. I can't tap-strafe but I'm still upset they removed it. It's a skill, albeit somewhat gimmicky, and very fun to do AND WATCH, even for the casual gamers.

Casual-biased patches is one of, if not the, main reason Fortnite became a joke. It was a great game until we realized they care more about profiting off parents' credit cards than the die-hard community that makes 90% of the content.

  9. This is like the nail in the coffin that the devs are nothing but a bunch of pushovers trying so hard to please the casuals that in reality whether they give them what they want or not it's not going to change the fact that everyone will bitch about almost everything regardless, like the other people said there are bigger issues that needs solving such as dipshit servers, the cheaters festering the game ever since the warzone streamers jumps ships to apex the broken audio that everyone is like a god damn ninja in this game.

  10. So tired of the kbm vs controller argument. One half the games you guys complain about aim assist were created for consoles or atleast more popular on console for years . Aswell as they even each other out. KBM IS MORE ACCURATE AND YOU CAN AIM EXACTLY WERE YOU WANT TO AND TURN ON A DIME . It’s way faster than controller that’s why controller has aim assist in the first place. And aim assist fucks you more than it helps especially when you facing more than one opponent jumping around.

  11. This is so odd. This mechanic isn’t going to hurt casual players at the lower end of the skill gap and higher end controller-on-pc players aren’t really going to be affected if it gets left in either. Movement is what makes this game so sick. A few seasons ago I made the switch over to controller knowing that I was going to be making the trade off for close range combat and movement/mid range combat.

  12. People are complaining about apex aim assist when all it does is slow down aim when on target, which in a game like apex is needed with its complex movement. You hate apex aim assist? Try warzone… more slow down, bonus super strong rotational aim assist which basically does 90% of the tracking for you, slow clunky movement which makes getting out of the aim assist bubble (especially when fighting a PC controller player with a high FOV) near impossible. I get why people are mad and its a TERRIBLE choice by respawn, but at the same time, it could be warzone.

  13. Screw tap strafe I’ve done it it’s broken to changes your direction for no reason get out of jail free card cause your bad positioning wasn’t meant to be in the game anyway

  14. Just like skill based accuracy and skill based matchmaking; if you don’t belong, you don’t belong, find new friends before the business makes you belong. It ruins it for everyone who belongs when the patch for the groupies drops.

  15. This is stupid. A bunch of babies crying bc the exploit that let them do impossible movement like a cheat, that wasn't intended to be apart of the game (bc it's op) is removed. Boo hoo.
And this idea that aim assist is equivalent is ignorant & a false equivalent. When moving a mouse you get the full movement of your wrist, can literally turn in multiple circles with 1 long swipe of the wrist, and have much more precision being able to utilize the whole arm & wrist mobility. Vs. A thumb sized joystick that requires the most minute adjustments of the thumb to attempt to match the accuracy of someone's entire arm & wrist.
This constant argument of aim assist is childish.
I personally play w controller on PC & PS4. I turn off aim assist on both bc I find myself fighting it when I'm trying to finesse my snipe shots. But this shit still hurts my head how much these babies cry about this b.s.
