Friday Night Funkin’ is a Newgrounds rhythm game made in HaxeFlixel originally created for Ludum Dare 47. Programmed by ninjamuffin99 with a soundtrack produced by Kawai Sprite and artwork created by PhantomArcade and evilsk8r, the game can be played on Newgrounds or played/downloaded for free on Itch.io.

The plot of the game centers around Boyfriend trying to hook up with Girlfriend, but her ex-rockstar father Daddy Dearest doesn’t approve of him. It’s up to Boyfriend to rap battle his way through him and anyone else that stands in his way so that he can finally get freaky! Think you got what it takes?

Friday Night Funkin’ is an ongoing project that will continue to receive updates, bug fixes and new content. A full version of the game is currently in development, having been successfully funded via a Kickstarter campaign. Check the changelog here for information on the latest updates. The game is also open source to allow users to mod or simply look through its assets. Download the game files here.

  22. honestly my favorite fnf song i've heard so far, and probably my favorite ever. i love how smooth the intro feels, then everything just sounds so nice up until the break into the video game-sounding part, then the segment right after being a piece from ailurophobia, and omori singing for a bit before it goes back into smooth sounding greatness (all parts of it sound so clean, though, just saying the parts with sunny are especially great to me) and when it sounds like it speeds up a bit towards the end it doesn't sound bad like sped up songs usually do, like when writers don't have anything new to add to the song for an ending – rather, it sounds just as great as the rest of the song does, and goes into the part with the extra reverb and the beethoven playing the flaming piano background, just all sounds so nice. Truly a masterpiece, and very likely my favorite fnf song and possibly favorite song in general that i've ever heard. Wonderfully done.

  28. Can't believe I've only just recently found this
    I have never been into omori and probably never will be but god this track is so solid it breaks the whole "I don't care about this game" wall I've been hiding behind when it comes to omori content
    It's just that good!
