You need to make the Longship as soon as you can. Believe me
Kagey-boi you do what you want amigo and I know the sword is cool. I made an iron sword myself. Great moveset cool schling! noises and great alt attack. Unfortunately I have not used it more than 5 minutes. I was still in swamps and you NEED a blunt weapon in swamps bc so many things there are weak to it. Then I moved to mountains to farm ice arrows for Bonemass and got lucky on some silver veins. I had some Ymir Flesh from trader and upgraded to frostner 1H hammer. So badass in the swamps. It does blunt/frost/spirit…literally everything in swamps are weak to one of those or multiple of those damage types. So my sweet sword continues to sit in the chest as I cruise past iron and into silver. Get banded shield and call it a day.
the stagbreaker is handy in the crypt, use the AOE to clear the slime and draugr behind the muddy scrap piles…they can't attack back

KAGE … the bonemass(swamp boss) has only one weekness = blunt damage SO … mate go for the iron mace if you want this fight to be acceptable else you will have a harder time dealing with him … sord is nice for the mountains but swamp NPC s have blunt as weakness !!!

The bigger longboat requires 100 irion nails (10 iron), iron/wooden beams to support your stone structures. Just a few things you'll need iron for.

The iron shield is called the banded shield. It looks like a wooden shield, but is made at the forge.
If you bring your hoe, you don't need to raise ground, you can simply stand on land and use level ground (no stone) on the water to bring it up to the level you're standing. It doesn't work all the time, but most of the time.
It's a good idea to buy at least 1 Ymir Flesh, so you get the prompt, when you unlock the next item you can craft. I think the only part you're missing for your first unlock is an Elite Drauger Trophy (the guys with the purple eyes)
Withered bones are needed to summon the boss.
For weapons, I recommend you go for the iron mace before the sword, as blunt is good against slimes. For slashing I'd go for the iron axe, good for combat and cutting trees. Plus there is a charm to playing a Viking game with a Danish Axe.
You can also craft Iron nails which lets you craft a throne. If you have a Bed, Deer rug, Throne and a Chair (it might be called something else, but it's the one that looks like a chair) then you can get your comfort around your campfire up to 10. This increases the rested buff to around 17 min.
game is great, but the way they have u pick up iron and have to make constant trips back and forth to load / unload really isn't doing it for me, so I pray / hope they won't take out the best cheeze method out there. basically I stick all the Iron from a dungeon in 1 chest and at the end I log out and log into my second server where I have chests and a Forge waiting for me, fixing my pickaxe and offloading all that blasted heavy iron. & after everything is over I just set my spawn to my main base and start carrying over the STILL grindy results. & I haven't yet reached silver and obsidian.. which I hear are more of a pain to find and mine… lol
The numbers in parentheses is the amount of Damage/resist according to the level of the item your using
Go for iron mace also cause bonemass(3rd boss) takes more damage in blunt damage.

Now that you have Iron, you can start working with stone if you build the Stonecutter.

@16:06 Let me see, what iron is for, apart from armour and weapons … Not much, just: Longship , advanced chests and other usefull furniture, two more workstations and some improvements, support columns and beams … 😉

swamp look to be good place for Cart, after most iron is inside the sunken crypts.
Bud you don't feel slow in bronze because you've never ran around in trollhide.
I agree, this game is so fresh in mechanics that the lack of graphics and it's overall simplicity are just a non-issue. every survival game is the same with regards to eating and material gathering… Val really does put a new shine on the genre
The number in the ( ) is equal to how much the shield will block with your block skill added to it. The left number is the base.
The chest upgrades are sooo worth it. Huge improvement over the first chest

I don't think resepes, unlock until you touch all components
Swords look cool but afaik there is nothing in game that is really weak to them atm, mace or bow seems to be best weapons for now.
I find that is using bow in this scenario, go in to sneak mode first as you get a big bonus if they not agro on you
Easiest way to clear these and dungeons is to left turn all the time, if you keep going left you'll end back at your exit and cleared all the rooms without missing anything, or right turn all the time.
