Research Matrix buildings can be built vertically on top of each other. You do not need so much logistics.
Protip : the factorio strategy of having buildings make buildings applies very much here. Having automated belt factories for instance makes a hell of a difference.
I think the problem with the blue research cubes is that you didn't let the entire belt fill out before you put the exchangers so there aren't enough circuts on the belt to meet production needs. Removing the exhangers and letting the belt fill might help the situation
