Empowered Abilities: The BEST Mechanic in League of Legends

For today’s topic, I wanted to make a video talking about Empowered Abilities in League of legends, an alternative way to design Evolutions in this game, and one that I personally consider the best mechanic in the game!

  1. honestly kayn would be an interesting candidate because instead of a mid game transformation he could get empowered abilities say based on a combo you do that either let the darkin shine trough or show kayn's strength, that would represent the internal battle for control (as stated in the lore) much better which I think could be interesting

  2. >I hate ranged top laners

Despite counterpicking being part of the overall strategy of the game.
The team comp disparity taking away a beefy melee member of the team makes for mid to late game.
The fact that ranged tops can rarely get back into the game once set back by being killed by a jungle or roamer gank or just forced to take too many bad bases to how easy a towerdive against them is.
How learning to play effectively against your strong and weak matchups is what makes a good player, not just optimally into your good matchups.
That getting and preventing CS, zoning, baiting and running them out of mana with regen items and potions are all viable strategies to get a lead, not just snowballing from a 5/0 every game
And how you can safely farm under tower which puts them in prime positon to be ganked….

Top laners throw an absolute hissy fit because someone else doesnt play a game of "I'm gonna walk up and hit them with my sword, I am the ultimate tactical master" like they think some sort of unilateral accord was signed making it the only "okay" way to play the game.
Reports from their parents say that after a loss to a ranged top 3 out of 4 melee top laners wont even finish their cheerios and strained bananas. I think we need to set a period of time out every day per server where the game shuts down so that ranged top laners can go get their nap in and not be so fussy.

I really like you Vars, but most top laners are just too many stages back on the evolutionary chart to be allowed to have opinions. We put you on the island so hopefully you don't try to communicate to us with grunts and smashing your club on the ground.
It is nice that you at least can step into (or out of?) character to make these videos from a semi-objective standpoint though, so you do have my sincere thanks for that.

  3. Wouldn’t Brand also count here? I know his empowered abilities work differently than the others, being that he has to have used an ability to access them first, but each one of his abilities has an empowered version, and each do different things

  4. LeBlanc also uses empowered abilities. She has a clear choice between mobility/aoe, single-target burst, and cc, one of which she almost always requires to be effective in certain situations.

  5. With the upcoming Udyr rework I begin to think. Aatrox could've had the same mechanic where depending on how much bloodwell he has, he gets a Q with a better heal for the neutral game, a W that slows more for lock down and E that has a longer ranged dash for initiating. Possibly, even making a revive an option through the cycling. Instead they made him into a manaless champions the slowly falls off if he can't snowball. Bloodwell could have had so much potential, the point of Darkins thematically was to have blood magic which won them against the war against the void. If we look at Vladimir, who's power came from Darkins, he is so much more thematically accurate than the three Darkin that are present on the rift.

  6. there was a rework idea floating around the sett subreddit for sett where his grit bar would kinda act like renektons fury and his W hit box was toned way down to give the character more depth and it was a pretty good one.

  7. Sorry no hate but
    1. You actually missed karma. She works exactly the same way as heimerdinger in empowering.
    2. I also think leblanc should be on your list as its technically the same as karma and heimer just with extra steps although she only gets bonus damage

  8. imo akali would be such a more balanced champion with empowered abilites in a way similar to renekton that would prevent her from just button mashing everything(i am a jg main but i play a lot of akali ). lets say that in order to let her empower one ability she has to activate her passive 2 times. not hit it ,activate it which means she can only hit you once and then hit you with another ability to make it so that you wouldnt run away that easily when you saw her trying get her passive empowerment. after the empowerment her q will deal some bonus damage and will have a bigger range both horizontal and vertical up down left and right to an almost 180 degree field,, her w would give her 30% movement bonus inside it and would refund a bit more energy and her e would allow her e would be changed to a dash similar to her r2 were after she jumps on you everyone in her path would take some damage.and to make it balanced cause its akali while the buff of empowerment is active she can not prok her passive auto so she loses some damage in return for some extra tools.i think this version would be pretty balanced since she would need to carefully chose which ability to empower since she would need to waste 2 abilities to get it so if she needs to empower q she needs waste her e and if she wants to empower her e she needs to waste both of her q which at that point she would be left with no energy for more q. her w would be a last defensive option in a bad spot to trade damage for survivability.her empowered q would be great poke in lane but it would be traded for her e which is her all in spell and her e would deal aoe damage in return for single target damage from her q on one target.idk as someone who plays jg for 9 years but on off role i main renekton jax akali twisted fate ezreal cait and thresh.this seems to me like a good plan for akali idk if you read this all leave your thoughs

    have a good day

  9. There used to be a sick build back in season 8 with renekton which was titanic and yommuus both had actives that could be auto attack cancelled which means you auto then w to cancel animation than titanic to cancel w animation the yommuus to cancel titanic it had insane burst and was honestly really hard to do.

Her Q,W and E all's gets temporarily empowered,it's icons changes to tell u it's empowered, her auto gets empowered aswell
People already mentioned karma so imma just say Sera

    I'm confused

  11. Jhin should have empowered abilities. stack by using his ability, after using it 3 times, the fourth use will be an empowered ability.
    Changes:
    Q
Remove the bounce on each damage
Bump up base damage a little bit
Add empower: more damage and all bounces are AOE
    W
    Remove the mark.
    Add empower: root
    E
Add empower: Bigger radius of explosion and grounded.

I'm ready for the hate, come.

  12. A video talking about circumstantial abilities would be cool, you always talk about the singed senerio, but there’s also Aniva E, Moakai E, and um lulu’s, that have different effects based on how you use them.
