  1. I know it might be unpopular but I think wow actually has a better mmo story. I love final fantasy's story, but it's a single player rpg story if we're gonna be honest about it. It's a great story, dont get me wrong i love it, but it just simply isn't a story that feels like it belongs to an mmo. While in wow your character is just one of many nameless adventurers in the lore, but that feels like it belongs to an mmo.

  2. I absolutely hope the mhytic-Dungeonsystem from WoW will NOT find it's way into FFXIV! The system caused the toxic community like it is now. If you havn't done Dungeon X in M+X you will no longer be invited to groups, also WoW became WAY too grindy since then. I am absolutely happy that FFXIV is free from that shitty Grindcontent and they never brought in stuff yet what would make the players being toxic. I like it how it is now in FFXIV.

  3. FF14 has way better class design.
Wow classes have gotten worse over time. A lot of them are too simple, lots of samey abilities, class identity is weak, pretty much every class has heals or tanking abilities. Some wow classes are fun but FF14 just has much deeper class system, abilities are unique, and rotations are complex.

However one thing that bothers me about FF14 is the game was built over shit coding and that kinda bleeds through in some areas like the awful map, and targeting feels clunky and unresponsive at times.

I'd still recommend FF14 over wow though. FF14 has its flaws but it feels more like an mmo to me with a friendly community, lots of role play, the community does things like putting on plays or live music performances. All these things make the game feel more like a living breathing world. Then you go over to wow which is just a lobby where people queue for mini games and the community is trash. And although wow has the best mmo pvp, in this day and age, why would you want to play an mmo for pvp? Wow pvp was great back in the day, but now days there are far better options if you want to pvp, such as mobas, arena style games like battlerite, overwatch, valorant.

  4. Played WoW extensively for a long time and love mythic raids and mythic+ for wow. But thats really it tbh, everything else in it is bland. I moved to FF recently and the amount of detail and storytelling is miles better than WoW. You actually have good reason to explore and invest into characters. I think FF has better transmog/glamour designs, story and world than WoW. Only thing WoW does well is its raiding and dungeon system for the hardcore players but even then FFs raids and dungeons are really fun and challenging.

  5. WoW used to be that great MMO, Nowadays is full of flaws that with time people have come to accept. FF14 started as a trash WoW wanna be clone and almost died if it weren't for Naoki Yoshida. Nowadays FF14 is a quality game up to the point that even the die hard WoW fans keeps an eye on from time to time. Overall, FF14 has evolved into a better game despite its many limitations like the dev team size. Sure, Yoshida can go on and on saying dev man power doesn't matter but it does. Imagine FF14 having the same amount of developers as WoW? The possibilities would be endless.

  6. Which one is more solo player friendly? Destiny imo has a bad issue needing mics and 3rd party apps to find end fame content with others. I’m hoping one is a little more forgiving for solo players not committing to a schedule

  7. Im thinking of buying ff14 complete edition for ps4 while its on sale. Are people still active in this game? And should I buy the complete edition first or the standard for 15€?

  8. Played wow since classic. Ive loved it for years and years. I have gotten 120s for all my classes and have grinded for invincible and ashes. on the 8th of September i have been off work due to personal issues and my friend bought me the complete collectors edition for ff14 just to cheer me up and get me into it and i have been playing it since then. I have loved it in each way, cried to the story and had good laughs, the game is more fun to me, maybe because it is something new but I've never felt bored or tired from playing it, kingdom hearts is one of my all time favourite games more than anything and i had never touched a final fantasy game… but now its all i care about it. Also the sound tracks, the music in the game… just soo amazing. I cant say anything than give it a chance.

  9. If you want to play PVP, don't waste your time on either games – go play Guild Wars 2. The combat mechanics is light years ahead of both games. The build possibilities in that game alone make WoW and FF14 look and feel very linear and repetitive in both PVP and PVE. In terms of PVE content, FF14 is the best in terms of pulling the player into the story. Right now I am playing FF14 alongside Guild Wars 2 and its a great mix as Guild Wars 2 is FTP. I gave up on WoW a long time ago as I felt everything was just so static after playing Guild Wars 2. The worst part about WoW is the never ending grind for gear that once you finally get it, a new expansion/update comes out and the gear you spent all that time trying to get becomes redundant.

  10. Trying to persuade myself to try ff14 while there is nothing much to do it prepatch… but man registering + setting up account took two hours.. in what world people use two registered account to play and buy the game… then another half an hour creating the character.. then straight up 20 minutes of dialogues + transitions until I can hit the first nob omg.. after 3 hours now i am lv 11 as an archer. Almost the same thing as a marksman but longer GCDs and I am starting to miss my addons so much like weakaura/flyPlateBuffs…

It this game trying to tell me I should stop or what lol… i guess I have to force myself to play until lv 60 to have fun?

  11. ok forced myself to play the game for 3 more days and I cannot stand the extra slow pace so I bought a boost + ARR skip. For the class design part, I wanna say a STRONG NO to the opinion in this video. The complexity of ff 14 is purely from memorizing rotations, once we have the muscle memory then it is ok. It is fixed 20-ish cast sequence. In wow, the utility skills are a much better. If I let my monk in ff14 duel my monk in wow, ff14 monk does not stand a chance. If I move my ff14 monk into wow to do mythic+ or raid, it won't be as successfully because i don't have aoe cc like leg sweep (AOE stun for 3 globals where as it is 1 global single target stun in ff14), i can taunt boss off for helping kiting, I have ring of peace, and I have paralysis, plus two rolls, one tiger lust and transcendace.

  12. Thanks for this, I'm a long time FFXIV player who just started tried and subbing to WoW due to the lack of contents in FFXIV right now, and I can't agree more.

I'm a story person when it comes to video games and I started to like WoW story, but not the storytelling. There are things in WoW that I wish they're exist in FFXIV and vice versa. Like transmog?? That the coolest thing I've seen, and I wish FFXIV has that kind of glamour system (instead having to keep 300 gear pieces in retainers and staring at small thumbnails when looking for a specific glam)

But yeah anyway, both games has their own good and bad things <3

  13. I started WoW last month for the lore. I don't want pvp but only pve, so i leveld 3 classes max trought bfa/legion and wrath but 3 reasons made me hate that game :

    – People who read the books say that the lore is missing ALOT of points
    – On top of that the story of old expansions are reduced now..
    – You character doesn't even exist in the lore like wtf

I will go try ff14 now

  14. My take on this:
Square Enix always tried to stay in neutral ground when it comes to its customer services. You get what you paid for, period.
    Blizzard, well…
    Diablo immortal, Blitzchung, Bfa…

  15. I've tried ff and its not my cup of tea but one of my best friends plays it constantly and i game playing wow while she talks about ff. She has learned the good sides of wow from me and I have learned the good sides of ff, people are so hellbent on shitting on wow constantly because of its long existence I have learned, I will always be dedicated and find the most tedious thing enjoyable, I love the art style and sounds, the lore old and new especially with Shadowlands, it being one of the best xpac releases in a long time. FF is for a different more casual but story driven audience with amazing visuals, making you feel outstanding and an actual hero, making you feel like the npc's are real and your closest friends. Yes wow has declined, but has maintained potentially millions playing it monthly for a reason, and ff is growing everyday, albeit getting number from wow as well. They are both amazing, just for different audiences, instead of being mean and heinous towards each others preferred mmo, why cant we understand that we all like the same genre and go from there?

  16. First I played WoW, I left mid-Legion because my computer had issues and I just stayed off it…then decided "I don't need it…"
I went to FF14 about a year later and loved it, still do.
Then a couple weeks ago, I used some of my Gold to get on WoW for free, and even more Gold to buy the expansion.
Now I am playing both, at the same time (sometimes literally on two screens) but I play WoW for free and just work hard on earning more Gold to keep playing free.
