3 months…. ofc the mod isn't "top tier" as you said, but it's still very impressive because the amount of details there is insane
the mechanics as well…..
it's extremely cool that one could make this much mostly alone, you're a person who's footsteps are worth to follow
(and if you're looking for some help on future projects, im a high tier charter and i can do some decent art :3)
Ok nice voiche but can u rework the all pose, a bit wierd
Sorry /;
Are you created desolation from happy remix?
I’m playing rn
Alright, lets get started:
Cutscene 1: First of all, voice acting! Not bad too. Art update is works well with the cutscenes so far and the voice acting isn't bad. It's a bit "Close to the Mic" but the emotion is still well conveyed here.
Oh hey, you DID update the audio! The beginning came out a lot more smooth, I like her notes much better here as they convey a subtle sense of dread which she clearly conveyed in her dialogue. The notes shift much MORE smoothly between one another. Plus, Boyfriend's voice is back to being in the old style which works so much better for the song.
Fall:
2:34 This came out MUCH better than your demo video. I love how the notes raise up in the second part, it carries with it a lot more of a melody. Boyfriends notes also come out swinging here. I love how the repeat comes with a couple of juke-outs and quick repeats.
3:15 The ritenudo here works well as well, and I really like how the song sounds as it's building up. It doesn't feel like the song is repeating itself, but is evolving over the course of the song. It brings back its theme and almost using its old notes as a leitmotif. It's keeps everything in rythem, on pace, and makes things sound different yet familiar. Very well done here.
3:43 The duet here works super well, wow. I love how when the second cycle comes swarming in BF gets more notes, almost like he's getting impatient like he really is getting pumped and wants to sing
AND THEN THE "Is that really all you've got?" DROP AT 4:09 WOW! That really pulled this song up a bar, the echo with them singing together shows how much better of an instrument this new Autumn is, because it harmonizes so much better with BF when they echo together. This song went from "Fear to being disappointed" to "Incredibly pleased."
Cutscene Two: Damn, uh… though minimal the animation was very smooth. I feel like it could have had been done a bit more suddenly to almost give a sense of surprise, but that's more of a pacing issue than an animation issue.
The voice acting here lacked a bit. She sounded less in fear of her life and more like she had a headache and just wanted to go to bed. She did mention she had a headache, and I can't tell what she was really thinking in that moment, but it didn't give me a feeling of "She's afraid" and more "She's bored and her head kinda hurts."
Dread:
6:00 Once again, I’ll say it: The flute is so loud here that it almost sounds like its own character singing. I’m not saying it’s bad, but it pops out with so much force that it almost breaks the boundary of what is “Instrumental” and what is “A character singing.”
Thankfully, the notes of the song slide in comfortably enough for me, but even so I still sometimes feel like the flute is fighting for center stage. I don’t know how to fix it, because if it’s too quiet it might bleed away into the background too much and the song loses a lot of its melody. Still, this was a gripe I had and it’s only fair to state it.
6:31 Ah yes, classic boyfriend. Girl is clearly not feeling well and he fucking puts on a shit-eating grin before hitting the high notes. Duet here comes out as much more as confrontational than giving off a feeling of dread, and the cymbals are placed quite well giving the song a lot more oomph. While it sounds nice, I feel like the emotional theme of the song is a bit dodgy, causing me to lose track of what the song is trying to “Tell me” so to speak.
7:22 Ah yes, the “I’m sorry” moment. I’ll get back to this point to see if it makes sense later, but at the current time the dialogue feels forced. If she was an established character, you’d understand who or what she’s saying it for. Is she saying it to BF because she can’t keep something down? Is she saying it to someone we don’t know? Maybe it’ll get back to that, but as it stands this drop doesn’t hit nearly as hard as it does for me because I don’t PERSONALLY feel for the character. I feel like if knew this OC more, and knew her story, having a moment of weakness like this would have impacted me as an individual much more but it happened straight out of song 2 with the only things you know at this point being: 1.) She’s lost, 2.) Something is watching her and she may or may not be aware of that. 3.) She’s not feeling well.
If I were to change the line, I’d personally have made her say something that fits along those things we know. Ones off the top of my head were:
“It hurts…”
“Get out of my head…”
“Stop… looking at me.”
Sadly, these are pretty basic, but I feel like it may have at least had more context.
Though, it does give off a corruption vibe, like she’s saying it just before she loses her mind and knows that she’s going to try and kill you. That being said, the flickering coloring is actually really nice. It’s simple, but not so violent that I feel like it disorients and hurts the eyes. It’s just eerie, and that’s good. Also, fuck that idle animation is unsettling.
Enough about the plot, though, back on the music. I like how at this point she doesn’t stop singing—like she’s absolutely trying to rip you apart; I also like how the song evolves here as well. Something you do well is using similar note structures but still changing it just enough to where it’s not a repeat. Something a lot of FNF songs do is find one melody they like and repeat it a bunch through the song. You take parts of a melody, but then add and take away from it just enough to keep it fresh while also keeping it familiar, something you did well in Fall too.
The percussion during all of this comes out super well, and I can say that if the flute is still around it is no longer center stage because it’s no longer bothering me like it did in the start. I really like how the notes come out here. Her notes almost sound flat and dead, and BF’s pitch is fluctuating so it almost feels like he’s struggling to keep it together. Overall, the song was good. It didn’t wow me, but it didn’t dissatisfy me either. It’s the type of song I feel like that if I heard after hearing Fall I wouldn’t go “Oh, it’s Dread.” I would go “Fall is a lot longer than I remember.”
Cutscene 3: The hands look weird, but everything else came out fine. The way they cover the face makes it look smaller than normal, but once the glare comes out there’s certainly a lot of menace there. It’s not top-quality animation, but it isn’t sub-par either. For me, it does more than just “get the job done” because the quality is still high enough to show a noticeable amount of effort. Also, the dual voice came out really well with the “Isn’t it great?”
Gone:
First things first, the idle animation is really well done. It’s shifting and shimmering in a very unsettling way. The movement is still feeling very jittery, moving quite far with each note, but I feel like it matches better with this version of Autumn who is already twitchy.
9:14 The start of the song really comes out strong with that guitar. The help me here has a lot more context, and thus has a lot more emotional weight because the notes that come out right after come out with a voice we don’t recognize, which is really good for the purpose of the story since we can tell that control has fully shifted over.
I like how fast the song is here, it feels almost like a race to the bottom.
9:54 I love the sync up with the instrumental, it almost portrays this sense of total control, no matter how different they sing.
10:17 I’m conflicted. On one hand, I want to say “This would have been a better part to put the line ‘I’m sorry’ or ‘Help me’” but then again if you did it twice in two songs back to back it would have felt a bit forced so I can see why you didn’t.
I do like the overall lifeless tone that Autumn? has in this song. It really makes fits the whole “Empty” theme. I also like how the lyrics here feel less like a song and more like an attack, like they are meant to kill not to harmonize. You can feel an actual killing intent behind their voice, and Boyfriend is constantly trying to regain song dominance. What’s even cooler, is there are moments where they do pull it back together.
11:05 The barrage here is pretty good, easily registered and Boyfriend comes in with a breakdown, and I like how they almost make the song their own even though they’re on the backfoot. This duet is probably the best part, only beaten to me by…
11:52 I like how they finish each other’s deliveries. I like also how BF doubles up on his turn and takes control of the song here—even ended it on his own terms with a nice finishing flourish.
I’m not going to lie, I will miss old Gone but this one fits better with the emotional beat of a “battle.”
12:34 Cutscene 4: Nothing much, just sphere eyes and then suddenly hell. Once again, I feel like I missed a few steps here; it’s like I went to the bathroom and missed an entire plot point. How did he get here? Is this a mental illusion he was put in by staring into her eyes? Once again, I’m not trying to insult what’s going on, it just feels like the pacing jumped forward a lot of spaces and it leaves the viewer a bit lost. Though, I suppose that is a theme here, since she clearly looked like she was suddenly warped so I suppose it’s possible BF was too.
The mod is awesome!
Great underrated mod:D
