Animated shorts are pretty much cherry on top for long storylines of the game. Remember the game started as a phone only one (ambitious for an action game) and they made it work.
Now imagine playing the gmae on your phone casually just beating stages and enjoying the visual novel style storytelling with occasional slightly animated splash screen. And then an animation of this quality hits as a climax to already emotionally draining story.
if you want a slam session in honkai lore, Mihoyo released a 6 minute long video called "Honkai in a nutshell" that basically gives you a crash course in everything that has happened of importance up to this cinematic.
I may be wrong, but what I understood from the story is.
Kiana(white haired) got honkai powers and she became herscher of void, at the start she couldn't control it but now she can. And for that she is dying because of honkai energy or something, saccirficing herself to save others. Mei (black haired) left the valkyrie group where kiana is and joined the enemy group(cuz of information and stuff) to become an honkai, herscher of thunder, to save Kiana killing from honkai energy. thats why kiana tries to stop mai becoming a new honkai plus going to enemy group.
BUUUT I MAY BE WRONG! thats just what I understood from the story
genshin doesn't need this. genshin is based on ancient time and honkai is a different story.

Why do youtubers need to overreact in these types of videos? Why react to videos that you don't understand the context or story? it's kind of annoying to hear your comments trying to guess things that all honkai players know well. you'd better play this game and react to the videos in due course …. unless you desperately need views
I just realized that the hand slice combo mei does is her valk. Blade strike augment combo.
So kiana and Mei are quasi lezzy BFFs. Kiana has three gems inside her. Mei made a deal with a group of assholes that she would take one of those cores and become a Herrscher as she was before. Kiana would die of honkai infection without this saving act from Mei. It was a roll of the dice because you never know the duality of a Herrscher. They could be good, they could be both, they could be pure evil or they could just be completely lost in their own chaos. Sirin was only evil because she let her hate get in the way. Kiana was semi evil because she was constantly battling with Sirin within herself til she eventually masters the void and eventually saves Fu Hua from death after she too becomes a Herrscher. Bronya, the Herrscher of Reason is Def good. Welt Yang, essentially good. Kevin…..well….my fellow Honkai players/readers I'd probably say Kevin is truly a toss up. The Herrscher of Rhimestar is the fusion of two lovers who became one rather than die, consumed with their own chaos. They would essentially be a combo of Ice and Gravity.

Well they are lover tho. So your guess is spot on. And long story short, the white hair ( Kiana ) want to stop mei ( the black hair ) from joining the world serpent. A notorious organisation with a goal to let the calamity ( the honkai impact ) running rampant, no matter what. They even will stop everybody from trying preventing the honkai impact. But they'll help humanity rebuild afterward. And the reason why mei want to join that organisation is, Kiana got some guilt because she has a herrscher core ( technically, higher being of honkai and the one who has the control of the honkai. That very core usually will corrupt the host to hate humanity and trying to eradicate everyone, unless if the host has a very strong resistance and will ). And from that guilt, she has some kind of obligation to stop the honkai. And Mei want Kiana to stop torturing herself from that sense of guilt.
yeah honkai and genshin are a pieces of art dude…one more data the dragon´s name is benares …honkai has a delicious history

Man I am loving this trend of Genshin channels checking out Honkai, it really deserves the attention! I've been a Honkai player for several years, and I always hoped Genshin's massive popularity would also draw people to Honkai, can't wait to watch this and the rest of your reactions, I really hope these convince you to try out the game, I would totally love to watch you stream or make videos of your experience!
Genshin does not need this. Let the game grow at it's pace before we get all crazy. Want it to be a long lasting game
All Genshin needs is more exaggerated combat animations, heavier camera shakes, a more zoomed in camera, and some epic cutscenes. But then again, Genshin’s slow paced softness is what differentiates the game from Honkai and maybe some people prefer that over Honkai’s fast paced and impactful combat.
Fun fact:
Mei, the Herrscher of Thunder, fully embraced her Herrscher powers and is fighting Kiana.
Kiana, the Herrscher of the Void, is fighting against Sirin inside of her, the actual Herrscher of the Void whose constantly trying to take control of her (yellow eyes), and fighting Mei. If Sirin takes control, watch "Befall/Will of the Herrscher" it explains the apocalypse pretty good.
Tldr: Mei at full power, Kiana can't use her powers.

The fight is pretty good, and you can see in the beginning that Mei is pulling her punches, right until Kiana taps into her Herrscherr powers (the golden eye), at which point Mei turned it to 11 and stopped playing around.
Also those hand slashes is taken from Mei's Striker Fulminata attack combo.
