Give Me ALL the OIL! – Dyson Sphere Program Gameplay Series EP2 Season 1

The Dyson Sphere Program Game is a new factory sim much like Factorio or Satisfactory, but with one big twist. The scale of this game is on a whole different level as it allows you to travel between planets and solar systems. In this game, your ultimate goal is to harness the power of the sun by building a machine called a Dyson Sphere. To do this you will need to build a massive factory that consumes resources from nearby planets and beyond. Completing the Dyson Sphere Program is no small task. I like to think of it as a journey of 100,000 clicks! In the gameplay series, I will take you on my journey through my Dyson Sphere Program where I tried to make the coolest looking base possible while quite literally trying to bring the entire galaxy to me to feed my one massive factory.

The game, Dyson Sphere Program is available on Steam and is currently at the time of this recording in early access.

  1. Really good showcase of the different abilities you have in editing, and a GREAT demonstration of artistic architecture. Well done! I just noticed they came out with an upgrade equipment tool!! I want to see you showcase it on this world you've created and show people how much more efficient the belts are. (You don't see a downgrade button though, and you may want to slow down some production lines on purpose.) Again, AMAZING map work!

  2. I get what you're trying to do and it's perfectly valid, don't get me wrong. You can do whatever the heck you want.
I just want you to know that this game isn't really designed for centralizing production. Since you have access to the planetary towers it leans you into making pocket production areas and using the towers, shipping whatever you need to anywhere on the planet to use in another pocket production area. Later on when you get the inter-planetary towers you can do the same with other planets. Create small pocket production areas and ship them out to space using the tower.

  3. BTW equatorial solar belts are actually quite effective, also i generally save atlast one pole for EM rail projectors, but you can also always have one planet which is just circled all the way around the equator with the projectors.

I'd say the best special resources are the optical grating crystals, organic crystals, and unipolar magnets(pretty rare tho, at least for me).

Fire ice and spinform stalagmites are pretty decent too, just gotta find somewhere to burn all the extra hydrogen.

  4. Amazing. The circle factory looks great. I would never have thought of it but it seems to work. And consecutive material/item steps open up many possibilities.
Imagine the whole planet with looping conveyor belts – dizzying. (Like the items standing still and only the planet below is moving.)

  5. With the oil buildings, you can put a sorter as an output of one as an input to another. So you can get maximum output by putting oil buildings in blocks of 3 in parallel. Middle one takes the hydrogen output(sorted in the sorter) of both and refined oil(set in sorter) as one of output. Then creates 3 hydrogens and energetic graphite as output. The other 2 output just refined oil. And you need to conveyer circles, one input and set of crude oil only, and one output of 3 rings for hydrogen, graphite and refined oil. Blocks of 3. Maxes out hydrogen and you get graphite also. Since the oil wells are infinite, you can just burn some of the output, graphite and hydrogen to have the thing fully self-sustaining, creating free hydrogens, graphite and refined oil forever.

  6. Probably too late now, but please follow the order: season, #, episode, #; if you're going to place it in the end as reading the last word/number is effortless + the SxxExx pattern is ingrained in us from other places, it's not like it fits before the "…" as the title is too long anyway. Your choice anyway, feel free to disregard this if I'm missing anything.
    Loving the series btw

P.S. this remark come after spending a good minute figuring out why this episode doesn't look like ep 1

  7. Should I even mention that once you've placed a building (or sorter), you can shift-copy it to place down another one with the exact same recipe or filter already configured? Sure makes putting down sorters for refineries a lot faster 🙂
