Marksmen: Is AD Carry a Dying Role? | League of Legends

This is starting to become one of my favorite series to work on and I’m glad you guys enjoy it as much as I do! As per your vote, we’re gonna be talking about Marksmen (A.K.A. ADC or AD Carry) and discussing if it’s a dying class.

  1. Don't forget that ADCs can be played in other roles too. Lucian and tristid lane, vayne and Quinn top ect. As a former ADC main for like 6 years I really love the playstyle and sharing a lane with a friend but it's just not rewarding anymore.

I think they just need to axe crit chance.

  2. The top four botlaners are all mages. Number 5 is ashe, who is boring as fuck to play. Number 6 is kogmaw, who builds mage items some of time. Number 7 is Ziggs after repeat nerfs. Can we just smack a fat glob of MR onto every adc and wash our hands of this botlane burst mage cancer meta?

  3. in earlier days adc was kinda satisfying bcs u could carry a game kinda by urself but a lil mistake sealed that thought…
nowadays sett presses w and gets the same result if not even a better one than an adc swetaing his fingers off

  4. I fell in love with the role just because it has pretty mcuh always been the same, (idk I'm a bit afraid of change I guess). But I'm also a huge fan of having great positioning and kiting. I'm actually starting to get a bit scared that the role might become irrelevant tho =/

  5. Quick solution to this, give almost all (you know the ones that shouldn't get this) ADCs 40-100% more range, but make attacks with the bonus range transform (similar to Samira/Kayle autos where they have 2 different forms) – when made within the bonus range they act like skillshots, blockable and dodgeable especially at max range as well as reduce total attack speed by a percentage. The idea behind this, is both to give reason for tanks to exist since they can block the autos and protect the backline as well as to give marksmen a place to exist; in lane with vision they are a force to be reckoned with, able to auto you long before you're in range, however the moment they're in jungle, don't have vision or get ambushed (from bush or with invis/camo/multiple dashes/a shitton of MS) they get one-shot like the glass cannons they are – also you can tone-down their escape/movement tools because it's no longer as neccessary. This allows them to have a slightly less bullshit laning phase since they have the option to stand further back (although to reliably CS or cause maximum dps you'd want to be within their current range) and a better space in late-game teamfights without completely removing their specialisation or weakness.

When a class/character fails in a team-based game, it's better to buff their strengths than remove their weaknesses.

  6. yeah any role could be interchangeable and we could send more mages to botlane, but where would we send the adcs that dont necessarily have the survivability to adapt to other lanes, i mean lucian, trist and vayne seem to do well by themselves but everyone else? that's the issue IMO; ADC as a role is replaceable but as a class its not designed to thrive anywhere else.

  7. I guess the main reason to why ADC are still needed is because a team might need AD ranged damage, should there be a lack of them, and not Ap ranged damage, since that role is likely covered by mid.

As in, if a team has an AD assassin in the midlane, the adc could go with a APC mage in the bot lane.
If the team has an AP mage in the midlane, the adc could go with an AD Marksman.

I always considered that the "AD" in the ADC name was long overdue, reason why I think they changed it to Marksman (which in my opinion doesn't suit either).
Something like RC (Ranged Carry) would've been more appropriate, since it fits with what's mostly played in the botlane (likely squishy, most likely ranged, carry).

For the ADC is dying bit, I'd say that it's mostly the outdated kits concepts fault:
-immobile carries don't have any self-defensive ability compared to mobile carries which can use their built in mobility as a defensive mechanic (a reactive response, dodging)
-immobile carries don't have any proactive way to not die should the enemy team focus them (I'd wager to give them higher base defensive stats, their whole playstyle isn't to move around, so let them be able to absorb more dmg than characters that do move around)
    For ex:
-give kogmaw a building yasuo-like shield with his skin hardening like a shell (that blocks the dmg on breakage, without exceeding into his health) that builds up faster when he doesn't move (simply fast when he's slowed down)
-give ashe an ice after-image, should she lose 33% of her hp in 2 seconds (so it can't be used in prolonged fights, it also blocks the dmg from exceeding to her health), that teleports her back (an animation of sliding backwards) from where she's facing
-give varus black tendrils that binds enemies that deal 33% of his hp in 2s (same as before) and pushes them back in a short distance
    Etc.

It works as an added passive, it prevents them from being one shotted out of nowhere with not fighting chance (the 33% was mostly to make it work twice in a fight) but doesn't guarantee their safety either (kogmaw will still be killed with constant damage, ashe could be in an unfavorable position should she not react fast enough, and varus might not deter the enemy should they have other mobility moves).

  8. except adcs have been massively buffed so their early game 'weakness' disappeared on top of them having free excapes through heavy cc and mobility. Being the only class in the carry role in bot lane every game is definitely a dieing class and 2 champions for a time, being able to compete with them (ziggs and casseopia) killed the class for sure.

  9. 8:00 no shit immortal shield bow has less damage potential cause it keeps you alive that the trade off every class building defensive items they would rather be building better damage items but cant because they die too quickly except mages whos defensive items dont really drop in damage and have the abilites they want anyway. As u said earlier you can count defensive items to keep you alive for a few more hits which may be the difference between life and death 7:28 thus getting out more damage. You put merciral items as slayer items when they are adc defensive items same with grievous wounds and deaths dance works too.
Lol people play what they want to play unless its tanks because Tank Meta during which u name tanks not building tanks and not being tanks or fighters who build one tank item that they wouldnt ususally and then go their usual build such a tank meta

  10. Personally I'm a fan of dedicated roles. I don't see the need to push other laned champions into jungle and bot lane. It's actually kind of irritating. There is such a large variety of champions for every role, seeing a zed/talon jungle in my games doesn't make it more interesting to me. Pros playing rumble in the jungle just because its "meta" dilutes the game in my opinion. Making more jungle champs viable would be better personally. ADC has a much smaller champion pool than any other role. Maybe its the reason Ziggs is a thing in the bot lane. But I don't want to see Yasuo in my bot lane, do you?
