So I don’t usually get into simulator games and when does think of simulator games, you’d probably think of Farming Simulator, Microsoft Flight Simulator or something like that. But this simulator game, as you might be able to tell from the footage on the screen is the Medieval Simulator!
The setting of this game is Europe in the Middle ages where there are usually two distinct groups of people. Peasants and nobles! You play as a peasant who doesn’t have much, but is skilled at hunting and farming and wants to take his faut into his own hands. You begin by building a small post in the middle of nowhere and put resources into it to attract more people and produce a village.
You will need to manage your resources by hunting and using the carcass of the animal you slayed to craft different equipment and building resources, feed yourself, and your community. You can even find a wife, create a family, and develop your own dynasty. There are environmental dangerous, such as harsh winters and quote, “unexpected events”.
The features this game has are as follows:
• Beautiful and realistic open world 3 D landscape with state-of-the-art graphics
• Full 4 seasons with day/ night cycle and realistic weather conditions
• Interactive environment with trees to fell, various fruit to plug, stones to collect, caves to explore and many more
• 18 different buildings with various levels from hay shacks to full stone mansions
• Over 60 pieces of equipment to craft, including weapons, tools, furniture and clothing
• Realistic wildlife interaction with plenty of different animals such as wolves, wild boars, deer, rabbits and others
• All activities with impact on food, water, health and endurance status
• Detailed skill tree for individual character development
• Unique events and decisions with direct impact on gameplay
• Dynasty reputation system triggering events with the king
• Quests, trade and economy, sandbox option, social connections to NPCs and many more
Now of course, this game is a single player game, and many survival gamers don’t really seem to be into them recently, however, I still find the value in them. Much of the time they are more polished initially than the multiplayer variants, they offer great stories and narratives, and allow you just escape and not deal with anybody else. I will actually pick this game up, maybe I’ll stream it for those interested in it. I’m not sure what the price is as it isn’t posted yet, but it seems to have some survival elements to keep me interested.
