Orbs FINALLY Nerfed: How Slow Are They Now? | The Elder Scrolls Online – Blackwood

It’s quite a surprise that the buff to Orbs post-Scalebreaker took so long to be adjusted but finally Mystic Orbs have been nerfed in conjunction with Healing Orbs. Ticks are now every second rather than every half a second and the orb movement speed has been significantly slowed down.

  1. I did a couple comparison parses where I just cast Barbed Trap and Mystic Orb. I used an identical build to the extent I could (I cannot replicate live CP obviously though). On the live server, casting Mystic Orb against the dummy at maximum range for Barbed Trap gives me 16 ticks, with total damage of 40,305 over the duration. On PTS, I could only get the orb to tick on the dummy 11 times maximum, but saw damage of 56,807 initially but because the cast had abnormally good crit RNG I re-did it and got 47,521 the second time.

Obviously small sample test but it does look like the orb could provide comparable DPS because although it ticks half as often, the slower movement makes it possible to get more ticks on the target.

  2. now question….. if it ticks every second is it gonna tick the damage it did every half second every second or is it gonna double the damage to make up for the half second its not ticking?

  3. So while talking about the orb.On my necro healer in trails, I saw that our other healers energy orb looks more "full" than mine.

My energy orb is maxed out but it's center looks smaller than his, WHY I GOT WEAK ORBAGE BRO??

  4. I'm down with these changes. It's the kind of skill you should really have to think about whether it's appropriate for the content you're about to do. This feels like a good move in that direction.

  5. It feels like everything they do is solely based on 3 things 1. Players that suck. 2. PVP 3. The top 200 players on each server that hit 100k. Like there is a lot of middle ground between those things. If something needs to be nerfed just because of PVP just reduce its dmg in PVP areas. The top hitting players will always be the top hitting players no matter what. If dps is nerfed by 5k all the good players will still be hitting 95k anyway. It affects the players in the 60k to 90k rage the most and most likely no one that’s hitting 60k is capable of burn strats anyway. If they wanna nerf dmg idk why they don’t just nerf the base dmg of everything slightly instead of completely nuking abilities. Also y’all complaining abt orb being op but forget they literally just added a set that will ensure 100% uptime on major force 😂 like ZOS don’t know what they are doing. I mean it’s probably gonna get nerfed but still. That just goes to show how clueless they are. Nerf an ability that’s to “OP” while putting the most OP set to ever exist in the game 🤡

  6. Dps use this? I always saw it as a healer thing also the slower speed it's better because on adds it was going so fast that you had to spam it again before it went somewhere else. So overall I don't feel that they nerf it.

  7. FINALLY nerfed!? Why is that a good thing? People like nefas are why this game is dead/dying. Most successful mmo's with large healthy communitys, the average player base can have fun and complete the content. Not eso, we have elitests who try to gate keep everything. And why? We can still compete for score, let the 90 fking % of other players have their fun too. smh.

  8. Am I the only person that thinks a slower orb is a good thing. It will be more reliable for bosses as it won't go out of range as quick. I mean it was never fast enough to allow movement or usage at range as it in live. And would often have be to be cast before its finished in most content because its moved out of range of what it was casted on / ground DOTs

  9. I think my biggest problem with eso, is how often stuff is radically changed. You spend alot of time getting certain gear and skills.. boom.. nerfed/completely changed. I dont even bother spending mats for legendary items anymore because the investment is short lived.

  10. There are some pissed off people in the comment section lol. I dont think this is that big of a deal.

Kinda lame for healers in trails, but in 4 man dungeons with smaller bosses the energy orb will hang around in the same spot longer in stead of flying away and its time to recast.

  11. Zos needs to quit it with all those radical changes and nerfs. That is HOW you kill a game, take out what ppl enjoy. Over used? I dont think the community cares, dont kill what ppl enjoy and you’ll get a happy player base

  12. Who asked for this nerf? Who was this skill hurting? Who did this nerf help? Honestly i think zos changes things for the sake of changing them without any end goal or vision for how they want the game to work.

  13. If orb speed is reduced by 50%(for example) AND damage ticks are reduced by 50%, how much damage is actually being needed? Doesn't that mean it would in theory hit the same since it going slower enables more ticks?

  14. I think if you playing melee range, its still pretty useful.
On further range it might be a bit difficult to get more dmg.
You can try to step closer and move bit away if you want to keep careful distance.

  15. This is what they do, nerf magicka and buff stamina. pretty soon all majicka players will be getting one shot while do no dmg. Someone should tell zos that light armor mages have light armor because their magic is supposed to deal the most dmg in fantasy but in ESO Majicka deals less dmg than stamina and has weak light armor. How does this make any sense?
