POWER OVERWHELMING – EXPANDING DYSON SPHERE | #18 | Dyson Sphere Program | Lets Play/Walkthrough

DYSON SPHERE PROGRAM
Build the most efficient intergalactic factory in space simulation strategy
game Dyson Sphere Program! Harness the power of stars, collect resources, plan and design production lines and develop your interstellar factory from a small space workshop to a galaxy-wide industrial empire
Combining Factorio and Satisfactory on a Galactic scale!

ABOUT THE GAME
Dyson Sphere Program is a sci-fi simulation game with space, adventure,
exploration and factory automation elements where you have to build your
own galactic industrial empire from scratch
In the distant future, the power of science and technology has ushered a new age to the human race. Space and time have become irrelevant thanks
to virtual reality. A new kind of supercomputer has been developed – a machine which superior artificial intelligence and computing capability will
push humanity even further. There is only one problem: there isn’t enough
energy in the whole planet to feed this machine.
You are a space engineer in charge of a project launched by the space alliance COSMO, tasked with a massive undertaking: constructing a Dyson
Sphere, a megastructure that would orbit around a star, harnessing all its
power and energy. Only a few decades ago it was considered a hypothetical, impossible invention – but now it’s in your hands… if you can manage to develop this space workshop in some galactic backwater into a galaxy-wide industrial production empire!

ABOUT EARLY ACCESS
While the core mechanics of Dyson Sphere Program are ready, the game still can grow and evolve a lot – and Early Access is just the perfect place for it to reach its true potential. We believe that by letting players experience the main content of Dyson Sphere Program and actively interacting with them to collect their feedback will allow us to improve the game and make it much better than it would be without this Early Access stage. Our plans are for this EA stage to be about 1 year long. But that is not written in stone

KEY FEATURES

  1. I've found that ray receivers work better on planets closer to the star since they get a better line of sight with the dyson sphere and thus shorter nights, allowing their continuous generation meter to tick up to 100% over time.

  2. When doing the big builds (mostly thinking of thos with the Exchangers, and the likes, that overlap with the placement of belts), remember to use the "shift-key" function when placing belts. Really a nice QOL feature in this game.

Also, from (limited) personal observations, it does seem like the Exchangers work as a "/s" discharge, meaning if the power demand is lower, they discharge slower as to not waste the battery-charge.

Might be completely wrong about this, ofc, as I usually colonize new systems using (almost exclusively) solar panels for most of my power needs.

Keep goin', @Nilaus, lookin' forward to how your DS is gonna "imprison" that blue sun ❤

  3. that charge cycle is insanely inefficient…
you're losing a bit of power in the move from full battery to low battery, then you're also losing power in the transportation of the full and empty batteries.
it's just a system that constantly bleeds power.

  4. Artificial suns + interstellar logistics shipping the antimatter rods from a dedicated rod producing planet I figure is MUCH more energy dense for a unit of cargo space than an accumulator. The accums works well mid game though 🙂

  5. Love the series and love the way the planets develop and get industrialized.

One trivial thing I hope you don't mind. I keep hearing you say Dee oo te rium for Deuterium. It is actually just pronounced Dooterium without the first "e" The "eu" is just pronounced "oo"

  6. Love your Dyson Sphere Program AND SC reference.. AND your style so dropping the comment and the like for da Algorithm of d00m since I can't afford to support you. 🙏

  7. if you don't want a football patern, you can have a harder to build triangle / square patern, I don't really know how to explain it but you go from the big line intersection in geometric grid, you go 10 intersections on all side, but build the node on the middle of the line, so it is not on one of the big line but exactely at equal distance from them so you get pentagones made of 5 triangles on each big line intersections, and squares / triangles between those

  8. I'm using the same system with energy exchangers for more than a week and it works like a charme. You can even extend it to having the ability of charging accumulators when your planet produces more power than needed on it's own(this is handy for an early backup power system f.e). You can do so by adding more dischargers than chargers.

  9. On the exchangers, I did notice that they continually discharge any accumulator put into them, even if there is no actual power draw. I doubt this is intended to work like that because it greatly reduces their usefulness as you'll need to have an equal amount of exchangers charging as you have exchangers discharging EVERYWHERE, instead of them being able to provide some extra power when required. This probably isnt that big of an issue once you have a sphere up and running, but in the mid game when you use something like solar to charge them power isnt as easy to get yet.

  10. Feedback:
12000mw is a lot to supply 20 ships may not be able to keep the delivery consistent? Could you please show in an episode if your setup can keep up logistics wise? I am currently making a simpler "block" of 450mw throughput exchanger setup which is easier building wise…

  11. How close to the star can you build Dyson spheres and swarms? Because the the total sunlight hitting a shell is the same independent of it's radius so you can save material if you built the Dyson sphere as small as your solar panels can survive.

  12. meh…. i tried the exchangers, i even tried to optimise them… and no, i can confirm, they DO SUCK. A LOT.

the other methods are much more efficient and practical than what exhangers can provide.

  13. This is gonna create such an absolute shit ton of power xD
Imagine when they've added combat in the game, and i hope they add more super-energy-demanding stuff lategame to use all this for. For example, planet destroying weapons, or even matrioshka brains.
The "fun" thing about dyson swarms in real life is, if you induce an electrical current between the satellites, you can "pump" a star for matter at the north and south pole. For example, a normal star has more heavy metals like Iron in them, than all of the planets and asteroids combined.

So you can literally have orbiting iron refineries, creating the materials for the swarm, in the actual swarm.

Furthermore, if you completely enclose the star in satellites and an electrical field (very minor, completely doable without sci-fi tech), you can then open a "tap" on the side, and all the contained power of said star will eject out from that narrow opening, creating a beam of concentrated energy capable of crossing thousands of lightyears, sterilizing entire solar systems.

Check Isaac Arthur's videos on youtube for the science on how that is possible.
Galactic civilizations have truly insane power.
And this is why such civilizations cant be hostile towards humanity. Because our solar system would be sterilized already if that was the case. Kinda makes you shrug at movies like Independence Day.

  14. 22:00 thats not how it works. You CAN tap the full output of the dyson sphere, but you need more ray recievers.
The recieving efficency is for each individual reciever.
So at 50%, you need twice the recievers to tap the full dyson sphere output.

And as you eluded to after you realized the mistake, putting these around the equator is terrible, since with any normal day night cycle rate, they will barely reach 100% before its dusk again (with a caveat for the planet you're on now has reverse rotation, so with the orbital direction this means you're getting longer days & nights).

You want these on the poles, even more than solar panels.
Graviton lenses arent gonna help if they never reach above 10% continous effiency due to day night cycle.

  15. Actually you can put output belt through other charger, when they are in charging mode, they can still take charged batteries and send them out instantly, so there is not that much need for a seperated belt for output, and same thing applies to discharge mode
