Personally, I would’ve cancelled it too. All the leaking people been doing just kills the hype, and mental health ain’t a thing to joke around with. Always put yourself and God first before a very toxic community. May the devs have some good rest.
That Red version of Eggman is named "Starved" to keep it short, eggman tasted some mobian flesh after his base was destroyed by sonic, and wanted more and more, he eventually managed to eat Amy, and many other classic characters, after he defeated sonic, he had then saved his corpse to eat on special occasions, his red face and flesh is the result of his diet of mobians. He even managed to eat one of tail's tails, seeing as he only has one. That metal sonic you saw was Furnace, a robot he created to cook and capture any mobians it comes across. He's not a cannibal, and he can still die from being stabbed or being shot.

Needlemouse is the original name for Sonic when Yuji and the team were developing Sonic 1. You can actually find concepts of "Needlemouse" online, alongside original concepts for the game. The character you're fighting against named "Needlemouse" takes her name from that.
It's sadge that this mod has come to an end, though the break for the devs is well deserved.

alright, so here's the reason why the Sonic.exe mod was canceled:
leaks were not only the big thing that caused the mod to be canceled, it was also how people were treating the directors. people continuously started to harass Comnzgaming, the main director of The mod about when it's going to come out and harassing him about how much leaks there were despite him not being able to control that.. this is all while the dude is dealing with homelessness and getting his uncle out of jail.
not only that, people were continuously harassing the mod devs about keeping revie's creation inside of the mod because they didn't want to see faker go, but they can't realize that revie is no longer welcome in the Sonic.exe fandom.
it was also because of a little troll someone did, leaking people's actual IP addresses when they played the game. imagine being someone who downloaded that update and got your IP address leaked on a stream.
