About Dyson Sphere Program:

Dyson Sphere Program is a sci-fi simulation game with space, adventure, exploration and factory automation elements where you can build your own galactic industrial empire and take over the galaxy!
You are a space engineer in charge of a project launched by the space alliance COSMO, tasked with a massive undertaking: constructing Dyson Spheres (a megastructure that would orbit around a star, harnessing all its power and energy) to produce the energy that humanity needs. Only a few decades ago, Dyson Spheres were considered a hypothetical, impossible invention – but now it’s in your hands… Will you be able to turn a backwater space workshop into a galaxy-wide industrial production empire?
Neutron stars, white dwarfs, red giants, gaseous and rocky planets… There is a big and varied universe out there, waiting for you to gather all its resources.
Every playthrough will be unique: your universe will be procedurally generated every time you start a new game. There will be different types and distribution of stars, planets and resources. Will you manage to thrive and build your Spheres, no matter what the universe throws at you?
As a space engineer, you are expected to design your interstellar factory and production lines, not to micromanage every small package going back and forth. You have to transport materials from one planet to another, forming interstellar transport teams that gather resources and bring them to where they are needed.
Then, your resources can be transported between facilities through conveyor belts, and you’ve got the technology to help your buildings fit the grid automatically during the construction process. You’ve got the best tools COSMO can afford to build a massive-scale automated production line – the most efficient one ever seen in the universe!

  14. Hydrogen starts off being a nuisance but it can definitely be crippling in the late game if you aren’t paying attention. My main issue right now is I’m consuming wayyyy more hydrogen than I’m producing and have spent the past 40 hours trying to gather more materials to build orbit collectors.

  26. Hey Kibitz, did you know there's a way to make half height belts? If you place the whole set of up ramp belts, you can knock off the last two segments and that'll get you a half height belt. Start from that half height and place another up ramp set, which will be three segments long. Knock off the last two segments again, and you'll have extended your half height belt.

    It's honestly time consuming, but you can have twice as many potential belts in the same space.

  37. Those satellite power towers actually consume power to use them. Also your dyson sphere should be constructed on a star with 2 or greater luminosity. Building it in your home system is really a waste of materials. You can basically get twice the power with the same material cost.

  45. And the end-game, is you have tons of power and tons of unused factories, that don't need power, because everything is all built…

    For… What end?

    You know, its funny. We keep looking at power-collection as "solar radiation capturing", with complex systems. However, the perfect arrangement is so much more simple. Its called temperature separation. What has powered our devices for centuries. Simple steam power. (Which is what our most advanced nuclear plants, and our most simple plants run on.)

    Space is cold as hell. (Which is much colder than the sun. Ironic that bibles use bad science and say "burn in hell", at the center of the earth. Then try to convince you that the "heavens", AKA: Stars/Sun, is "better than hell", when they are hotter than the hottest planet core. Bad science.)

    Using a simple tethered, insulated, dual-layer tube… Along with a simple "bulb" of contained liquid. Sustaining an "always facing the sun" orbit, would yield infinite and massive steam power, as long as the sun is alive, without complex electro-chemical reactions that would constantly need replacing. (Like solar cells that have a limited life-time of operation.)

    The bulb faces the sun, being closer, makes that the "highest gravitational pull", or the "ground". The suns rays are focused on the bulb, or simply diverted away, if it gets too hot. The "steam", rises, and is forced up through the insulated inner tube, as the gas heats-up and expands. Spinning turbines, suspended in a zero-friction magnetic levitation bearing. (Because energy will be more than plentiful for that operation too.)

    After the steam has passed through all the core-turbines in the "insulated straw", coming from the bulb… It ends-up at the far end, away from the sun, within the full shade of the bulb itself, out in cold space. Freezing cold space. Where it condenses fast, back into water, after it exits the insulated turbine straw. That condensation action creates a massive vacuum, which further assists the "flow". Condensation pooling in a secondary bulb, at the other side, where it is collected and allowed to form a "head", before flowing back to the bottom bulb. Flowing through liquid turbines in the uninsulated tubes, going the other way, in opposition of the steam turbines, in the insulated tubes.

    Then the cycle repeats, forever… But that is only good for power "out in space". We do this here, on Earth, with geo-thermal power. (But that makes our planet colder at the core and the surface hotter. Potentially dangerous, as it would harden our planets shell, turning it into a planetary "bomb", instead of a soft-shelled tectonic absorbing planet that it is now. Ultimately, becoming as dead as the moon, in time.)

    Now, the best use for that "remote power", is not for trying to "power Earth", but to defer productions of high-energy processes, which are also dangerous, into space. Keeping them off planet, instead of just moving them to China. (Which is like sweeping them under the carpet. Except that is wall to wall carpet, and the stains soak through the carpet and will eventually reach the walls.) Out in space, the most toxic toxins can just be ejected into the path of the sun. Because our planet obtains more mass, with every meteor that enters the atmosphere, it will help offset that mass and keep us from falling into the sun, in the future. (The more mass our planet collects, the more it is pulled to the larger mass, the sun. Which is why our planet gets hotter and hotter, as time passes, as our closeness to the sun increases and our orbit becomes slightly less "elliptical". Ignoring the whole "green-house gasses issue". Which is honestly moot, in comparison.)

    All this electrical radiation is killing us faster than we imagine. Luckily, we breed faster than we die, still. (For the moment. But even that is starting to fade, as all this saturation of electromagnetic and RF-radiation expands. Between cancers and sterilization, and social isolation, and lack of sex-drive, and birth-defects… We are in for a world of hurt in the future. Not counting the lack of "genetic adaptation", thwarted by laws and religions, setting back genetic evolution by billions of cycles, by adding a delay of 6-8 years to "breeding readiness". Which has resulted in effects that result in delays of 14-24 years, in reality. Preserving our bad, broken, genes, in a Hitleristic way of "preservation". Only preserving our inevitable fate's date, of all humanity, to a much earlier date.) Evolution cycles we CAN'T get back… They are just gone, forever. Leaving us with the only option as "genetic manipulation", which may ultimately be more effective, if we can figure it out. But We may not be alive long-enough to get that far, as a race.

    Rant over…

    But, honestly… I got all discoveries completed, and never had to make the sphere, and had about 1/100th of the buildings. It's a lot less to delete, after all the discoveries are made, and you no longer need factories for anything. 🙂 I never even left the planet! (Because I couldn't figure out how to, in the first run of the game.)
