Aphelios was widely considered the pinnacle of League of Legends’ “200 years” meme and to this day, many players still don’t know what he does. I wanted to spend some time making a retrospective look on him now that it’s been a little over two years since his release.

  1. Aphelios can only have 2 weapons at one time. If Aphelios weapon is bad, then so is Aphelios during that cycle for that reason they can’t take away anything from Aphelios weapons

  2. imo he just doesnt offer enough for how much work and rng is involved. hes just eh and most other adc champs have more consistently and some are just outright better with less effort

  3. I still feel like calibrum ult should have the old range it had and keeping the rest as the current range. This one is more of a for fun idea for aphelios that makes it a little more complicated. This is for only his gravitum. The idea is gravitum now has stacks and at 1-2 stacks its a 0.75 root, 3-4 stacks would be a 1-1.25 root, then 5 stacks would give it a 1.25 stun. the numbers can change but I thought it would be a cool thing to have in his gravitum kit. it would make it alot more complex which isn't needed and doesn't need to be added but just a cool concept of an idea.

  4. Ig its just that hes not worth playing. Why give urself a seizure trying to master him, when u can literally fart on your keyboard with someone like (literally any champion else) and accomplish twice as much with half the effort

  5. Zeri has one major flaw: her Q/basic attack SLOWS. Not that she gets movespeed for hitting it when she is ulting, nah, lets make her kiting even easier than Ashes, by giving her a speed up AND a slow.

  6. when he first came out i was like "cool, instead of having 1 type of auto attack and 4 (basic) abilities he has 1 ability and 5 types of auto attacks" and i was hella pumped for an Marksman version of Udyr. I'm still convinced his Q's should share their cooldown.

  7. What do you mean "nothing removed" from his kit (3:50)?? He lost the global mark on his greemn gun Q. Right now It has a range the target can walk out of, It didn't used to be like this.

  8. "what he can do is limited by the two guns he's currently using". This is why most Aphelios guides point out that he's at his strongest with <10 ammo left in a gun – he can use it's active, discard the gun, use the next gun's active, then swap and use a third gun's active in quick succession. Even better if you manage to get both guns down to <10 so you can use four actives in quick succession. You get a burst of value that gets close to an overloaded kit, where usually he can only use two actives in succession.

  9. If people think aphelios is over loaded then wait til you see invoker in dota 2, If riot ever released someone like him I couldn’t imagine how leagues gameplay would work with it

  10. You don’t understand what overloaded champion even means. How someone with so little understanding of champion design gets to get so many views? Try watching Riot August twitch and u will change how your interpret champion design

  11. As much as I like aphelios I feel like he was also kind of a failure for riots goal. Riot intentionally made him to be this super difficult challenge 1 v 9 unstoppable when mastered champion when learned, and he does have a lot of difficulty dont get me wrong … But it’s all very head knowledge and planning based compared to execution based. Don’t get me wrong you can easily mismanage a combo with your gun swapping and there is a mechanical thrill in pulling off weapon drop combos, but that’s kinda where the line ends … outside of that the difficult comes from a mix of information over load, effective gun management and prep for whatever situation is coming, and … we’ll just being an immobile adc is automatically entering the game in hard mode tbh. Again all that is difficult but if you held aphelios up next to riven and asked which one is harder to master its riven. By a lot.

That aside I know everyone keeps pointing out the mistake about aphelios not losing anything cus he lost his global range on green gun q … but he also lost something else I haven’t seen brought up yet, armor pen. Leveling E didn’t always give lethality it used to be pen but that got taken out and swapped for the lethality he now has.
