Decided to build a bridge in Valheim to cross a deep river, it was very experimental and very frustrating at times, but I did find a few helpful building workarounds, so hopefully I can share some Valheim building tips & tricks for basic building.
If you have any Valheim building tips then don’t hesitate to share them in the comments below.

yea i was trying to build a bridge this is the same way i did it. they need to allow us to build while in water.
Neat.
Was messing around trying to build my own bridge and discovered that you can use the hoe to raise the ground underwater!
Try to use temporary walls snapped to the pillars, and attach the pillars to the wall edges. Then remove the walls. Love all YouTubers who put themselves out there to do the tests and share their findings! Thank you!
Wow this turned out so cute! My bridges look like blocks on stilts! lol
So what i used to build my bridge was core wood pillars. Once you get a bronze axe you can cut down pine and the core wood is alot taller
Building in this game is super frustrating, but I'm starting to think it's intentionally bad, and I think that's part of this games charm. Viking life is hard.
thx for the workaround.. the 4m corewood pillars are great for that purpose.. oh and when you started building the bridge you can replace the workbench and put it the to the center so you don't need to put a 2nd one
Hmm .. might try this tonight. I wonder if you can build or use hoe from a raft .. ??
I liked the video. You have a good tone in your voice. Subbed.
Snapping definitely needs some work, its a pain in the ass to build anything over water and getting things to go where you want them too
Just build a bridge and everytime I come back from chopping wood parts of it are damaged. I'm worried this thing I spend two and a half hour to build is slowly collapsing under its own weight.. anyone know how to prevent this?
nice video, cool idea to build a bridge
I wonder if using logs as supports is possible. They are longer but they may be limited where and when you can use them.
Arched bridges work better. You don't have to mess with the pillars and boats can go underneath.
Maybe you could use the big log poles for support as they reach farther down (the ones you build with core wood) 🙂
Didn't the water decay your pillars that were submerged?
the building in this game is JANKY AF. holy shit its frustrating
so i cant recall if he mentioned a fix to this in the video but my pillars are rotting in the water and my bridge is gonna fall, how do i fix this
Chopping some trees in Black Forest (pine) and getting abit of Core Wood gives you the 2 times taller round support pilars that might work better for a bridge since they that much taller and thus stronger as youd get more distance out of 1 piece. I do like the slapped look near the water surface as that looks pretty realistic, under water not so much but doing what you had to do since you cant dive and get angles under water
yeah but water flow just fucks up my pillar the fuck am i supposed to do then???????????????
Using corewood pillars (4m) would likely be much easier and provide much better stability.
If u hated wood pillars than stone ones must really get you goin
I found it easier to just plug on at the bottom of the river, and then work your way up with the pillars, not very pretty, but far easier 🙂
The wah-e?
Awesome! I'm totally going to make something like this for my fam!
Are you having a problem with your supports decaying since they are in the water? I don't want to repair my bridge every few days!
