Valheim creators talk about indie game's smash success | CBC Kids News

Most successful video games are built by hundreds of developers working in huge studios.

Think: Assassin’s Creed:Valhalla or Cyberpunk 2077.

But, a recent smash hit — the Viking survival game Valheim — has a very different back story.

The game was built by independent developers Iron Gate Studio, Coffee Stain Publishing and — get this — their five-person team.

In the two months since the game was released, that tiny team has managed to sell more than five million copies of Valheim.

What’s more, the game is still only in early access, which means it’s not even fully finished yet.

Tune into the latest episode of GAME ON with Elijah Sandiford to hear how two of the names behind the game, Henrik Tornqvist and Sebastian Badylak, made an indie game into such a big hit.
