A brutal exploration and survival game for 1-10 players, set in a procedurally-generated purgatory inspired by viking culture. Battle, build, and conquer your way to a saga worthy of Odin’s patronage!
I’m still not done with it…But I’m absolutely loving Valheim so far.

Game's size: 1 Gb, food for thought to major AAA gaming companies.
It maybe be pretty lacking in content but it's incredibly rich in gameplay.
Most survival games get a negative/mixed review cycle because they are completely buggy messes and the mechanics just crap out.
With Valheim being in early access and having a overall positive reaction says a lot about the game and it's future. There is so much they can do with this game for their 1.0 release that will make it a colossal success and I can't wait to spend another 500 hours in it.
In games like this most of the time I just want to build my base so the "just delete it and you are good" aspect of the building system makes it so much more relaxing than in any other game. Maybe Terraria and Minecraft comes close to this but Valheim is absolutely awesome.
Not that hot on survival games, but this one is keeping me in.
oi oi mate cheers for the recommendation me and my boys are loving it
Yeah this game is actually just fucking incredible. Just picked it up 10 hours ago, have not been this hooked on a game since i started playing rust 4,6k hours and probably 5 years ago. Just amazing
Man this game it’s so surprising I tried to put a finger on it when explaining to someone why I like it And I used the fire place reference as well But it’s so much more
This little game is SOOOOOOOO fkn good.
I’ve played the game for 70 hours over the past 7 days 😅
Got to applaud the coder(s) of this game engine! The size of the game is amazing by itself, but the biggest advantage is having built it all by themselves; at least that's what I assume by looking at it. One – it's uniqe visually. Even though some people say it's ugly it has a unique style I quite like. Two – they won't have too much trouble adding what they want and tweaking the content, because they have built tools to accomodate them. That's smart development and well-planned game design! And it always pays out in the end, as the numbers show.
Totally agree with your assessment. I'm like 35 hours in, but moving at a snail's pace. I love house building…I think that's where I've been sinking all my time.
It is hard for me to call it a true "survival" game, though I have really enjoyed playing it since it's release. The "survival" mechanics are more like bonuses than anything, they aren't necessary in terms of dying of starvation or lack of sleep etc.
I tried hard to like it, but I had to refund it after 1hour and 59minutes, I also need good graphics to get fully immersion in such game, I dream to play it on U4 with graphic like Ark ^^, but im happy that the game doing so well 🙂
Wait, I need a chimney?!!
Are there any good survival games out there these days that have a campaign or good end goal? I love the idea of survival games, but I can't really get into these modern ones because just surviving for the sake of surviving gets old really fast for me. I really loved Stranded 2 way back, because it had set maps with a set goal on each and an end goal. Minecraft, Terraria and Starbound also kept my attention because I felt like I was working towards something real.
Love this game. Glad I bought it.
Personally I prefer playing it singleplayer
It took 5 days for the game to go from 1 mil sales to 2 mil
This dude just say something about 50 to 60 hours before putting it down for awhile? I'm at 80 and theres no end in sight. Send help.
Spot on about the little things. The tree physics are the best I’ve seen in a game! I fell about laughing when my mate got killed by a falling tree for the first time!
You should not move faster backwards whilst drawing a bow than an enemy which is rushing you with a blade out.
Only point i'd challenge is "optimisation is great." It's far from great, it's pretty bad.
Even people with banger PC still get immense fps drops, the world save can take up to 5seconds if your world is big.
The graphic quality is very low, like it's a more pixelated art style. And the graphics is intentionally low.
But even with that, the game still gets big fps drops, laggs, server lagg, stuttering etc.
Optimisation needs alot of work to perfect. Which i think should be the next focus besides more content.
Anyone running this game now thinking it's possible to play with an i5 & 3GB Radeon 8950?
Edit: IDC if it's 1280×720, lowest settings, getting 30fps, that's all I can ask for.
Okay, but this game lags on RTX 3070
