  2. It's a fantastic game so far with a lot of potential, but certainly nothing close to a Destiny killer, and that's ok.

Outriders is unique in it's own form and it's a breath of fresh air to try something different.

  3. It's pretty cool but I can't see this being a replacement for Anthem or The Division for me. It's way too linear and the lack of open world isn't my cup of tea. I'm definitely going to put some time into it until The Division adds some content

  4. The storm in the opening where you get your powers reminds me of Anthem's E3 trailer. Do you think that was another nod or tribute? Gameplay-wise, it leans towards Gears of War, especially if you look at the presentation, animations, cover system, and even the game engine.

While the sci-fi theme is comparable to other games in the genre, it's still unique overall when all other elements are considered and would tie over Anthem refugees for the time being.

  5. imho there are key items that were not mention in the video:

    – outriders is not a live service. Once the story is done (35h – at least that's what it says at the end of the demo), what is left is the grinding for top gear

    – no mention of the content dlc at this point (maybe this is a pilot project, if it does well, we get Outriders 2 as a live service game)

    – much less freedom of movement (not just flying), so some folks might not like the comparison with "similar games" expecting similar freedom of movement. It's more closer to Gears of War than Anthem or Destiny (no jump, no crouch, no flying, skills can lock you in place, cover to cover movement etc). It may seems like a negative, but due to this limit (and lack of a quick escape) the world has much more grip on you ( makes it easy to see what Anthem lost when it implemented flying, but also what it gained)

    – town is much better than in Anthem (both aesthetic, function and atmosphere wise), and imho the whole world has more dread and impact than the world in Anthem (in few moments I even said to myself, damn if Anthem did stuff like this it would have been really epic)

    – there is a skill tree with 3 branches for each class

All in all, expect gears of war in Anthem-like world (but better atmosphere and smaller in scope at least the dungeons / instances). Impactful itemization from the start but the whole experience is finite in scope. World map and general map instancing is also a bit different, but it's more of "get used to it type" than bad.

Has few bugs atm, probably will be fixed soon. Big negative that I can't easily forgive is the item management, especially selling. Like in Anthem, when you sell items, you need to hold the button, wait 1/2 sec than move to the next item. I hoped that everybody learned that lesson, but it would seem People Can Fly (studio) didn't…

In general, maybe a bit too expensive ride for 60$ if you are not the grinding type and don't have a crew for a solid co-op experience. Otherwise, hanging out with friends, killing stuff and getting loot (especially in the endgame) imho is worth the price even if it's designed to be a finite experience from the start.

P.S. The AI is good, and that can be seen after few levels when the terrain allows it. Expected getting flanked, grenades, rusher type mobs, elites, aoes, snipers etc etc. If the game keeps expanding the gameplay at the same pace as the demo did, at the end game (with high level tiers) it looks like it's going to be a challenging experience (just hoping there aren't too many bullet sponge enemies).

  6. Too many people have Stockholm Syndrome when it comes to D2.
Anthem players may go to it, but I think a lot of what appealed to them isn't there in Outriders.
I think Outriders will do ok. But it isn't going to break records on delivery. Hopefully overtime people will come on board otherwise it's going to die fast and furious.

  7. Outriders to me feels like a cross between Gears of war and Remnant from the ashes. The linear nature of the game will be what holds it back from having mass appeal and ultimately shortening its lifespan. A great gap filler till the next big thing arrives what ever that might be.

  8. Don't get me wrong the combat is fun but compared to Anthem it is not even close, graphically Outriders does not look next gen and the story so far is so so. I don't think this will be an Anthem replacement for me i'm going to wait for Phantasy Star 2 New Geneses.

  9. So far it has been fun, been playing as a trickster and the combat is fun. My negatives

-the inability to jump or crouch, get rid of the bad cover system and add jumping
-the small battles, too many breaks in combat
-the lack of explorable world, this could change with the game release
-I am playing on PlayStation, can't remap my cover and dodge buttons (at least I don't know how to if you can)

  10. I am a gutted Anthem refugee and are already getting together with my now grounded group of freelancers to play this. All my toons will be sporting the Anthem piercing in remembrance to what should have been.

  11. Good video. For me though this does not come even close to Anthem. I think fans of Anthem didn't love it just because it was another looter. It was the world, the combat, the freedom flight gave use. No game will come close to that for a long time imo. Definitely not this game. πŸ™

  12. I woke up today and all of my inventory was deleted. Including my one legendary. The only gear I had was what I was wearing. Hard to want to grind anymore when my loot just disappears. I've never had that happen before

  13. Its not bad at all but it's just not different than anything before. If you have played division or division 2, you have played outriders. Shoot, run to cover, repeat. Not my thing at this point but not necessarily bad.
