Why NO ONE Plays: Aurelion Sol (REMADE) | League of Legends

Since my original WNOP Aurelion Sol was poorly made in my opinion, I decided to remake it to match the style of my newer episodes, while touching on new aspects to him that I didn’t before! So today I bring you a revised version of Why NO ONE Plays: Aurelion Sol.

  1. I used to play him a lot when his W was still a toggle but dropped him the moment they changed that. Personally I wanna say if Riot wants to make asol more popular they should 1st) Revert his W and 2nd) Have his ult have multiple charges or act like a long range cone.

  2. After playing Aurelion for a little while, I can safely say that his bad matchups are not that bad anymore. Except Akali, but she’s one of the best mid laners right now so. Plus he can choose to not interact with his laner by perma shoving and roaming with E

  3. People who think Asol is weak haven't tried playing him toplane into juggernauts.

Garen, Darius, Illaoi, Sett, ect. Legit get steamrolled by him. Nasus can have 1000 stacks and he'll never touch you if you run phase rush. Some of them will make you have to dodge a pull like Darius, but that's nothing compared to the 3+f dashes most champs have in mid ON TOP OF skillshots you have to dodge (looking at you Sylas).

He legit has more winning matchups in top, and you can even build him like an AP bruiser with items like Rylais and Deadman's plate. Just walk around without autoing to keep up the deadman's movespeed and you become a kiting god.

The longer lane also favors him in trades. He needs time to kill people because of how his W works. If they have a longer way to run to tower, you can punish them so much harder when they miss their key skillshot. E.g. if Darius misses pull you turn on ghost and you run him down. Hilarious I know, a champ like Asol running down a Darius, but he can't do anything especially if you run Phase Rush.

As an added bonus, he hard counters some of the most annoying champions to face in top like Teemo and Singed and outscales them both into late.

This is coming from someone who has 550k mastery on the champ, most of it in toplane.

  4. I'm otp Asol <3
i personaly do main him cause i love his gameplay. So unique and fun to play, and it has to be perfect. If you do one misstake, you're more likely to be punished with Asol than any other champ. But if you play him perfectly, you'll be invincible

  5. For background context, Sol is my second most played champion. My big criticism of his kit is the fact that he's one of only 4 battle mages without a heal or shield in his kit. Karthus and Anivia both have death mechanics to second chance. But he and Taliyah both have neither a heal nor shield in their kit. My ideal rework of him would boil down to returning W to be a toggle and reworking E into a short duration shield. That way he can more readily fit into the heavy center of the teams damage dealing universe theme rather than be this dancing, fragile short range hoola hoop of death.

  6. Why I main Aurelion Sol: He’s not used often, and he’s really pretty… I started playing a few months ago, and my fiancé told me nobody plays Aurelion sol and he’s hard to play. I somehow learned him very easily, and he’s my favourite character. I honestly originally only wanted to play him because he was pretty.

  7. I honestly think he needs a rework to some extent. Remove the orb passive, make the w toggle again, remove his minimum attack range. Make the R hitbox something that makes sense or re-name it to make sense. Some quality of life changes and I think he would be in a better postion than he is rn. (When I said "remove the orb passive, make w toggle" I meant as; give him a new passive, make the orbs spawn when he toggles the ability)

  8. The thing that sucks is that if they remake asol, there are so many cool potential this champion has to actually have a more fun gameplay without making him no more broken than how Gwen or Yone is.

  9. I don't main him or paly him in ranked, I just paly him in normals. My problem is that you can't lane vs champs like LB(can't really pick him before the enemy mid) and you are forced to a roaming style like TF. Asol is kinda a harder TF.
